World Cup Las Vegas 2020

The Houston Rodeo was just cancelled because of Covid 19. Last year, 2.5 million people attended it over its 9 days…

I rather doubt that people will be flying their horses in from Europe at this point. Especially to Las Vegas.

I very much doubt it’s happening. https://variety.com/2020/tv/news/president-donald-trump-coronavirus-travel-1203531466/

Yes, with a 30 day travel restrictions, it can’t happen, wonder about refund policy🙁

I’d say the travel ban just clinched it. Damn.

Yeah, it was looking less and less likely and the travel ban pretty much makes it a moot point.

They canceled the rodeo because of the first known community case in the Houston area was announced this morning. People are getting panicky.

I have a horse that has a flight booked Friday from Amsterdam to Chicago. Hope everything goes as planned!

Rats

It won’t. Unless they arrive before midnight Friday, and pilot and crew are permanent U.S. residents.

Thank you. I have no idea about the pilots and crew. Waiting to hear from Horseflight now.

I really hope it works out for you. Just be prepared for some difficulty. Unfortunately we are in for some inconvenient times, but we’ll make it through.

Please let us know how it goes.

I think as long as everyone arrives before midnight Friday they’re fine. I don’t believe the pilots and crew need to be USA citizens - as long as they’re in before midnight.

As things stand right now, the passenger ban does not apply to crew.

If nothing changes between now and when your horse is scheduled to arrive, the travel ban should not have any direct impact on you import. Indirect impacts are possible - the airline or shipper may make changes to minimize their own financial or disease risks but the travel ban won’t directly stop the import even if the crew are not US citizens.

Hopefully nothing will change. I think banning travel from Europe is a stupid way to go about containing the virus, but that’s just me (and some experts.) There are better ways, but it does take excellent co-ordination that is lacking in many countries (U.S.included) at this point in time.

Interesting as well that Crew are not included. Are they considered immune to the virus  or are they being tested.? @Sparky any word?

That would make as much sense as most of what I’ve heard about the handling of the disease (sarcasm intended )

I don’t know. I skipped the all-employee “community forum” that the major airport where I work hosted yesterday. I didn’t have any interest in being crowded into.a public hallway with all of the other employees and whatever passengers might have been walking through.

Sigh.

I have a horse mid-vetting, who won’t ship for 2-3 weeks. My understanding is that the ban doesn’t impact cargo and crew is exempt from citizenship requirements, so you should be fine even if he doesn’t make it in before the cut-off.

He was picked up in Germany this morning and is enroute to Amsterdam. I’ve also heard that cargo is not affected by a travel ban, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Dang, the flight was cancelled, mainly because of worries about getting the grooms back. So horse will go back to Germany until somebody can figure something out😞

I’m sorry. :frowning:

This was very poorly thought out. At least they didn’t turn them around in mid air…

I wouldn’t be surprised if horse transport from Europe halts altogether for awhile, due to the uncertainty. You never know what the U.S. will do. It’ll take some time to work out the details, which should have been done in advance.
