I’ve watched the video of the course three times and I am still not seeing how they are going to manage four or five of the combinations…this one looks really, really, really tough this time…not being right there to see in person of course, but from the course preview videos, I am shaking my head. Astonishingly tough. What do you think?
I agree it looks very tough.
Is there really no live streaming?!!!
Someone may remember better than I do, because I can never sit and watch live streaming on the weekends with my own horses to ride and things to do, but I don’t think Burghley is ever live streaming. I think that they usually break up the rides and you can watch them on demand pretty quickly after they go? I could be wrong though.
Course looks trappy. I would guess there will be lots of glance offs. The upright gate would make me worried if I had a horse with a slow front end, and I’m never a big fan of those really open corners. That said, there isn’t anything that worries me as much as the bounces to the open corner did last year, which unfortunately I think turned into a validated fear. Plenty for a spooky horse to get an eye full of, plenty for a horse to glance off of, and again, I’d be a little worried on a tired horse with a slow front end at the upright gate and the rugby ball perhaps, but over all, I’d rather jump this year than last year. It does look to be a difficult course for sure though.
Wow indeed.
Just one “question” for me – can I stay in the house?
I don’t know about live feed but maybe Equibrit can fill us in. I wish I could get my computer to accept the expat app and work with it, I had to upgrade for work to windows 10 and there is no telling what I’ll be able to get without hours of fiddling about in the bowels of its hard drive.

You have to pay a bit but I think I would to see how riders handle this course. Should be interesting to see how everyone handles it. I agree that by changing which direction it runs it appears to be close to a 5* in challenge, terrain and difficulty. The leaf pit that late in the course could also be interesting. I am rooting for all but really interested to see how Michael Jung does.

Just as an interesting factoid, BDWP is showing 32 horses withdrawn. Now obviously the rides of Andrews have a solid reason to be pulled, but this number seems high to me. Anyone else able to think of a time that roughly a third of the entries bailed?

Many were cross entered with the Euro Champs and expected to be WD.

Didn’t the Burghley TV site used to be free? I remember enjoying watching the video on there the last few years. It’s a shame if they’ve gone the route of FEI TV and are now making viewers pay to watch.
I thought from the website the highlight video available afterwards was going to be $5 with some proceeds going to charity but the on demand burghley TV would still be free.
It was free to watch - and we were lucky I’d say, it was wonderful. I’d be willing to pay a bit to access all the rides - Burghley TV does a nice job.

I honestly didn’t look at the website very closely yet, so hopefully you’re right. I always thought Burghley did a great job of making video footage available to anyone that wants to watch and hope they continue to do so … I’d like to see more events follow in their footsteps!
There were a couple that looked really scary to me but then again, there were some questions at Rolex that looked insanely difficult but wound up riding very nicely. We’ll see how it goes. Hopefully everyone gets around safe and sound.
If you have a subscription for FEI TV can you watch it live? Or am I reading it wrong?

I can’t see that we can watch live? Is that correct? I checked FEI TV and don’t see Burghley listed.
Will Burghley TV be available world wide?
Hope so!

Correct. Burghley TV is not available live. They do upload on demand videos of every rider quite quickly though, the schedule is outlined in the post above yours.
Anyone know the breeding on Redesigned? What a lovely horse!

Just a guess, but if this is the one listed on allbreedpedigree.com (chestnut gelding foaled in 2001, with British Eventing results listed), he is in the Anglo European Studbook. Sire is a Selle Francais, dam is Selle-Francais/Anglo-Arab. So French, basically…
