That seems like a bad decision. With today’s technology why wouldn’t you take an opportunity to provide coverage of your event worldwide.
It’s actually not all that easy to provide good live feed footage.
I LOVE Burghley TV. I go back regularly and rewatch rounds from past events. I love being able to choose by horse/rider and the quality is super and it runs well. It’s a free service that I think is very generous and I wouldn’t feel taken advantage of if I had to pay for it. I don’t think there is that much hardship in waiting 60 minutes to start watching, and at that point you can basically watch it as though it were live, round after round, without a spoilers if you just don’t watch the live scoring before hand. I just can’t really see what the problem with it really is. I think we should be thrilled to have beautiful, organized, on demand, FREE footage of one of the top events in the world at our fingertips.
Looking forward to watching Oliver Townend’s round. Sounds like he was a perfect trail blazer!
Hoping for safe trips for everyone.

Nice interview. Very complimentary of his horse.
Bummer for Jung!
Apparently gravity affects Ze Terminator after all! As everyone says, Burghley ain’t a dressage show!
Delayed cross country should be up in a few moments. In the meantime, I am looking at some of the vids of the dressage. The post ride interview with Sweden’s Dag Albert has a silly moment where it looks like the horse is replying-- the horse is flipping its head in the air near the mic. Hilarious!
What happened to Michael Jung?
I am just happy Burghley TV puts up everyone’s rounds. A live stream is great but I do conferences and the cost for just a single room can be in the tens of thousands. I can only imagine many multiple cameras over a XC field. It must cost a fortune to do Burghley TV and I am grateful to have it in any form.

Electrical hook-ups for conferences cost a ridiculous amount of money, yes. How much of that though are real costs, vs. union price-gouging?

EDIT: Just watched the round and it wasn’t actually the boats. She tripped cantering into the water, must have found a hole. Fall was unrelated to a jumping effort.

Per EN:
“Fisherrocana trips over the boat in Anniversary Splash and she and Michael both crumple on landing. Both up and walking away ok.”
Scheiße! Glad they are both ok though.
First two XC videos are up! Dromgurrihy Blue and Under the Clocks
Lynn on course!
Andrew Hoy fell off! Omg y’all!

Lynn home & clear jumping with 13.2 time!!! Fantastic!!!
Just watched Oliver Townend’s cross-country. Wow! Just…wow!
I got tired just watching it!
Well done Lynn!
Wow, seems like no one has made the time so far.

Oli’s horse looked TIRED by the end. What a nice, genuine horse though. Never wavered off its line.
just watched Michael Jung’s fall, all I can say is, “Shoulders back Mickie!!!” I am sure he is still in a state of disbelief that he came off.

Well, they’re clearly not all about sport safety; lately they’re doing much more to balance modern ideas of safety with conflicting and sometimes-rigid ideas about tradition that the sport is otherwise soaked in. I don’t mind leaving room for personal choice and personal evaluation of risk, though if there’s a perception that you need a top hat to be taken seriously at the upper levels it’s (to me at least) indeed a problem.
Is the problem with Laine that she is a “helmet at all times” advocate except she’s not wearing one now, or that she’s more generally being a lousy role model, or something else?
well-said. We have come a LONG ways toward safety and we need to consider that 10 years ago, NO ONE wore a helmet in dressage. The fact that people stopped wearing top hats means that we are much more concerned about safety now. This takes time, and the Brits are all about tradition so it is not that odd that more riders were wearing top hats… it shall change with time. Heck, it was not that long ago that people routinely posted pics of riders jumping without helmets and today, such a picture would have all knickers in a knot. Just look at Dressage magazines now compared to 10 years ago.
As for Laine, this is not the first time she has disappointed me. I do not know her personally but I am unimpressed on many dimensions. I find it odd that mature adults follow her with such enthusiasm.

CELEBRATE!!! How awesome is that? Still waiting for the video to come up!
