Got clarification on the jump. I don’t think it was all that easy but I don’t event… turn into the woods to a narrow cabin and 4 strides down hill to the skinny. Horse hung a leg and flipped over.
So this was from a friend who was there, the rider was knocked out briefly and may have broken some bones, no update on her.
Thank you for the info. Do you know if that happens to mean that there was a light-to-dark transition at or immediately before/after the jump?
I was told it was light to dark in the turn to the woods to the cabin
Thank you for sharing this.
I personally don’t mind a person asking hard questions or having different opinions, but those things should go hand and hand with empathy and understanding. You often make sweeping generalizations about issues surrounding eventing and that is rarely helpful. The issues facing eventing are complex and nuanced and need to be treated as such.
But it does mean you haven’t been lucky enough to ride a horse that made prelim easy.
Indeed!
I’d like to point out that we are 5 days from the incident and we don’t even have a solid report from TPTB about what the damned fence even looked like. All we have are second hand “my friend said” type comments.
So excuse me for not trusting the agencies to do a blessed thing about any of this, and instead wanting to ask the questions myself.
You won’t get one. USEA/USEF does not release information surrounding accident/incident reports beyond sharing condolences for connections.
And not a peep anywhere from the host. Just bee bopping along on their facebook page. See ya next time!
To say I’m disgusted is an understatement.
I feel the need to say “bite me” LOL
The host posted a statement immediately, which is how I learned of this tragedy.
There’s nothing on their website or Facebook page. I recant my sentiment , if you can link to their statement.
Trolli olli olli ooooo…
Who said Beetlejuice?!
If you feel you are entitled to be in the know about everything, why don’t your run for a spot on the Board. Then you would probably have every hair raising tidbit and if you truly care you could try to make a meaningful difference. Present your ideas, see if they have meaningful qualities, have merit, meet scientific quality assurance standards and if they do, then get them implemented.
Once you provide evidence for all the claims you’ve made in this case, I’ll consider doing the homework you’ve assigned to me
Well, it’s not there now. So they were so sorry for her loss that their lawyers told them to pull that sh*t down, I’d guess.
More likely the injured competitor who is mourning the loss of her horse requested that it be removed. If I were in her shoes I would not need a reminder of the tragedy.
