Aww, what a shame for the Japanese rider! I’m cheering for them, love to see up-and-coming countries putting on a good show. That really was a bummer of a fall.
Geez, I agree with the general sentiment that Melanie Smith Taylor stinks as a commentator. Unfortunately, live stream isn’t working for me so I’m stuck with the U-verse NBC broadcast.
Japanese rider came off and his vest blew, and she was all “wow, that vest inflated even through he barely bumped the jump”
Tim Ryan had to remind her that the vests inflate when the rider parts ways with the saddle.
I’m not even an eventer and even I know that!!!
58 or 59 just started, Mark is 74…you’ve got a bit of a wait.
Love Tina Cook and Frolic - she looks so measured and efficient, and stays right in the middle of the horse - I like any ride where I don’t gasp over every other fence!
Lovely to see Tina Cook come in double clear to such a great home crowd reception! Team GB moves up to first.
Tina Cook makes time and is in 3rd place. Amazing ride!

He didn’t even get to go into the stadium.
If horse & rider are ok, can they ride the course AFTER the Olympics? I vote they should be able to.
Almost fell over the last jump!! That was close!
Holy Cow - almost falling at the last fence after checking the time!

Special place of honor if you fall off at the last fence…
Wow. Would be awesome for GB to medal. Fingers crossed for the home team.
Arrghh! Was just about to say YAY, MR. POOH! when he almost crashed into the very last jump. Almost. He made it, though. Just a few time penalties.
He was checking that watch a bit too soon!
Holy…! That was close! Silly old bear, you’ve got to clear the LAST fence!

No to mention her apparent shock that WOMEN are in the top 3 currently. Tim is even getting annoyed with it.

I think he realized he wasn’t going to make the time and tried to go the inside track to the final jump to save a second. Would have to see the replay.

The UK eventing ‘hooligans’ are going to riot! (I know there are football hooligans, maybe they can show them how.:D)
I am at work and can’t watch, so I appreciate the running commentary from everyone on this thread.
Looks like the Brits have overtaken the lead from Germany.
Current ranking -
Great Britain - 130.20
Germany - 134.70
And two riders left for each - Michael Jung and William Fox-Pitt.
Hope GBR can hold the lead!
LOVE this italian horse. Catty jumper!
Phillip Dutton up next.
Love that beautiful grey Italian horse. Just beautiful.
