Your All-Time Favorite Horse-related Purchases/Products

I treasure my Miller leather back oval body finishing brush. I remember back in the day , 1978 I paid " a lot" for it. It rubbed and finished every horse I ever had and is in perfect condition. It could raise a finish shine on a coat like nothing else.

I no longer have horses but you bet, I never will let go of this brush.

Any of my Schesse dressage saddles. Showed me what a well fitted saddle for horse and rider could do.

I swear by Keratex hoof protection program. My horse lived out 24/7 in the Seattle area and once I learned about this program I never had issues with keeping his hooves happy and healthy

1)Nobel outfitters grooming tote

  1. liverman cordless clippers. I can clip anywhere in the barn, the pony needs clipping 3-4 times in the winter. They do a full clip easily and are light!

  2. Rambo new market cooler

  3. hands on gloves

YAY Stateline do international shipping. So the less than $5.00 tiger tongue brush when you buy 6 is going to cost me quite a bit over $100.00 with shipping, duties, damage insurance etc. So boy am I trusting you guys. I bought enough to give as presents. Maybe we should go into business together and I could sell them over here!!!

Another to add to the list today. Once again I have no idea what they are made of and again no brand
I bought them for 25 cents at a carboot sale where I bought 4 pairs of socks for $1.00.

No I haven’t ridden in them up to now as they don’t look like normal socks and flimsy.

Yes I should have sewn the lining on my long boots before it came off completely. Yes I should have sewn the lining back on when it came off.

My instructor told me to use a plastic shopping bag as my foot just stopped dead at the ankle and would go no further with normal socks. The plastic bag trick worked so well I have used it ever since.

I picked up the pair of socks today to wear as the others haven’t been washed yet.

As I went to put it in the bag I thought it looked similar and yes the boot went on easily.

Bean![](e with removeable USB rechargeable lamp. We bought it for$15.00 on sale at the local Mitre 10 hardware store.

We have had them for a couple of weeks now and they are bright and haven’t needed recharging yet.

Because it is a beanie it keeps you warm. It can stretch over anything and you can flip the lantern up so as it faces your head and does not go in the horses eyes until you are past their head to put the rug on.

Is it better at doing all those things than a cactus cloth? I hadn’t heard of this product before you and
@Peggy brought it up.

1- Bulk bags of animal crackers from Costco. My horse insists these top the list.

2- PosturePrep massage tool/curry. Even the sensitive snowflakes forget to protest being touched when I’m currying them with this thing.

3- Lister Star clippers with, and this is important, Premier1 blades. My fellow has Cushings and anhidrosis. I clip a lot. These are the only blades that don’t give him pressure lines and the motor on the clippers is strong enough to cut through his winter Shetland coat like a hot knife through butter.

Can you give me a ballpark sense of what this cost?

For me, yes, because it doesn’t hold water at all

Overall it is more versatile and less annoying to sensitive horses than a cactus cloth. Thus even better at removing sweat marks, especially girth ones. Also it’s easier to keep clean as you can rinse it, shake it a few times, and it’s dry enough to go back in your tote and then dry pretty quickly after that. For some reason less dirt gets flung back at you when you use it. It’s excellent at removing the layer of shavings and dust my dark horse always seems to have when I get him out of the stall.

The only dowside of the thing is that I haven’t figured out how to label it with my name. It’s probably safe as so many people at the barn have them now.

oooh, too late for that ultimate hoofpick?

Because there is a version with a bottle opener on the other end. Beer and clean feet! (I think there is a wine bottle opener version as well)

It’s difficult to pick only three.

1.Electrogroom vacuum- I love to do the old fashioned full groom complete with cactus cloth but holy cow it’s nice not to breathe in a pound of dust while using this baby.
2. Thinline reins (long)- good no slip grip and low profile and I never realized my reins were a bit on the short side until I bought these
3. Action Magna safety stirrups- sadly no longer made but a nice, beefy, fairly traditional looking stirrup with a bit of insurance

For non-tack related items, because my Bruno Delgrange Athena would be first…and my Aramas bridles second…

  1. The Ultimate Hoofpick. I think I have 5 of them…and I continually give them as gifts whenever appropriate. Best.Hoofpick.Ever

  2. Epona Shed Flower: My go to curry for grooming/washing/shedding. I use it year round.

  3. My Grand Meadows Hay Tote: I won it and thought it was weird, but man, it gets used everyday now that I have to put my horse’s hay out in a bin in front of their stall each night (one gets different hay from barn provided in the a.m. and we have to put it out…the other gets hay in a ā€˜feed stall’ that we have to put in each day). It’s getting old and sad and is going to die soon. I just did a search and found something similar, although this one is larger…t will probably have to be the replacement.

I’m going to look into the Tiger’s tongue thing. I love me a good, inexpensive grooming tool.

LOL that hoof picks are different the world over. The ultimate hoof pick is not available in Australia. On Ebay the UK hoofpick was also slightly different to the one in Australia.

Yup. Me too. Thanks guys!

My top 3, none of which I still have:

  1. My Whippy sidesaddle. Sent off to sell as I can no longer ride due to health issues.

  2. My sewn in hunt/show bridle. It was stolen.

  3. My custom Vogels. Outgrew them years ago, my son used them for a bit, then they got lost in a move.

Hmm…big ticket: my Ram, my Adam 2+1, and my Voltaire Stuttgart. LOVE.

Smaller things…I adore my Electrogroom, my horses prefer HS Duo bits, and I love my many (I can’t stop buying them, which is stupid), Contender II saddle pads.

Oh, and my favorite tack cleaner: MOSS goat’s milk soap (I like the vanilla), and my favorite FAVORITE leather conditioner: Belvoir.

Super-small things: rubber braiding bands to keep my bridle keepers from sliding down. I put them on the bottom part, under the strap, so you can’t see them. Cold beer/cider/prosecco in the my cooler. Those rubber grooming mitts, which work on my horses and my pibble.
