Your favorite sires, conformation-wise

I know the answers vary depending on the mare you are looking to breed, but who are some of your favorite CURRENT sires (as in standing at stud currently) in terms of conformation (particularly as it affects durability) and their record of passing on their good phenotypes to their foals, improving upon the mares they are bred to, etc.? What are their best traits and what types do they cross well with?

Also, are there any on line resources that discuss these traits of particular stallions that I’m missing?

Conformation-wise, at the top of my list would be Bernardini and Giant’s Causeway. I was also very impressed with two new stallions: Summer Bird (first foals born this year) and Gio Ponti (first mares bred this year.) Two stallions who produce a lot of good looking foals are father and son Tiznow and Colonel John.

Candy ride and Pomeroy come to mind for me. I’m also very excited about Quality Road, but he is still a newbie.

Honor Glide standing at Fanlew Farm. His babies are so balanced (after they grow into their long legs)

We have a Latent Heat colt, first foals now 3, that would knock your sock off. Absolutely beautiful with a great mind. Out of a quirky Pulpit mare who has passed on her “mind issues” to her other foals but not this one. We have had a couple of others to work with for clients that we quite nice also. We bred and raised a Pomeroy colt that was also a very good one. Not sure if your question is race related or for sport horse.
Sky Classic gets a very good looking horse, correct and good bone. The ones I have been around are good jumpers We had a Storm and Half colt that was picture perfect and a natural over jumps. Great temperament even though he is by Storm Cat. I have scouts looking for more. Not for Love seems to be consistent. If I wasn’t so lazy I would pull my “book” out and list some more.

Just conformation? Petionville.

Hey, thanks for the bump mbj! I thought this thread was going to die a quick death.

Colonel John is pretty interesting, isn’t he? He certainly seems to stamp his babies. Thought about sending a mare to him, but his book was already full.

I am so biased but…

Unbridled produced my lovely gelding Lad, but he’s produced many other lovely horses as well.

A.P Indy lines. Loving some of them, most recently my new purchase a grandson out of a Benefice mare.

I adored a ton of Crafty Prospectors when I was younger, and one of my all time favs was Easy Goer. I never met a child of his that I didn’t like.

Oh and Fit to Fights. LOVE them.

And Tour D’Or is a MUST have for any Florida based OTTB. AMAZING minds and movement.

We must have the same “eye”…I love his conformation as well! I can’t pick them apart, but I know what I like when I see it.

I love Hard Spun as a “type” and he certainly seems to be stamping his get. I think Bernardini is about as nicely put together a TB as I’ve ever seen and he was a durable fellow.

I was unfamiliar with Petionville before this thread but he is lovely.

I am and have always been a fan of Sky Classic, simply stunning!

Can NOT believe I forgot… PLEASANTLY PERFECT

How about Invasor? Any comments on him?

Tiznow & Unbridled Song…

Probably the horse that most blew my socks off as a looker is Best of Luck. I don’t know about stamping his foals, but he is to die for gorgeous.

Also, go to Thoroughbred Champions BB and go to “Breeding”. Then look in the thread, “stallion pictures”.

It is 50+ pages of sheer eye candy.
