Yes, I noticed that some of the horses seemed to have pretty high reserves and didn’t sell.
Sea The Stars[
is my show hunters first dam. (So I may be a tad prejudiced.)
He is standing for FREE in Ky.
He IS lovely! Especially for a Storm Cat. Sea The Stars is really nice too.
We are breeding our big mare to newcomer ‘Balthazaar’s Gift’ this season. Went and had a look at him a couple of weeks ago, and could not find a thing wrong with him. Absolutely gorgeous in person!http://www.bloodhorse.com/stallion-register/sr_sire_page.asp?refno=6930190&origin=singlesearch
@ Gumtree we have 2 Storm Cat geldings one is 5 years the other is 6 years. The father is A.P Indy. They are being shown in the jumper ring, their appearance stands out, with their looks and conformation. We have people come up to us to compliment the horses and then ask us what warmblood breeding are they. When we tell them they are OTTB they are shocked. The 6 year old loves his job and puts 110% into it.
We are just starting with the 5 year old, he is very lay back and patient.
Love my OTTB
Nice, and great that he raced for 8 years.

Conformation-wise, at the top of my list would be Bernardini and Giant’s Causeway. I was also very impressed with two new stallions: Summer Bird (first foals born this year) and Gio Ponti (first mares bred this year.) Two stallions who produce a lot of good looking foals are father and son Tiznow and Colonel John.[/QUOTE]
Did you end up with a Colonel John foal ? I seem to recall seeing a thread where you said that you bred a mare to him. I saw him recently and thought he was gorgeous. Very classic type. Curious to know what your experience was breeding to him if you did in fact pursue that route.

We bred to Colonel John in 2014 and had a filly last year. She’s correct, attractive, and much bigger than we expected (the mare usually produces more moderate size offspring.) We’ll be offering her for sale in September at Keeneland.
Love everything about Medaglia d’Oro. One of the most well put together stallions I’ve seen lately is Congrats (AP Indy), who is standing at WinStar and a decent bargain at $20,000. Echo thoughts on Colonel John. His offspring aren’t always fast, but they typically look the part and can run all day on any surface. Another good bargain at $7,500.

I was really impressed with him in person. May not be as commercial as some others, but he does seem to throw versatility and classic looks.
Montbrook
Poker. Now deceased, but sired my perfect conformation mare (according to everyone who saw her) Kick and Howl, aka Callie. If I could find any horses with that conforming again, including her foals, I’d buy them.
Of course neither Callie nor any of her foals did well on the track.
But as one BO told me every day, she had perfect conformation so someone else must have chosen her, not me. Compliment for Callie, diss for me. (I did chose her for her looks and for her intelligence.)
Poker also sired a nice little mare named “my Charmer” who foaled a pretty good runner.
I love Yes It’s True, although he’s now dead. We used to run a good sprinter against him and he was always so beautiful in the paddock. I bred to him 2 yrs ago and he was still looking great and I have a gorgeous yearling. Wish he was still around, he was one of the most commercial proven stallions under 10k.
