Is this poll about what we personally feel? Or how we think the jury will vote?

My opinion is that whatever the outcome of the criminal trial, there is zero chance of LK launching a successful suit for damages against MB afterwards.

It depends.

Thousands of replies! I am not even wading into that thread.

From what I have seen so far, the prosecution did not make its case. And the defense is yet to go.

After the shooting, it seemed that people were commenting that they had MB “dead to rights” and this was a slam dunk. I’m not a legal expert but I do agree with you that the prosecution did not make its case.

I personally believe he is not guilty, but until the defense presents it’s case I’m not sure what the outcome will be with the jury

I can only opine based on what has happened so far, but, based on that and the discussion on the other thread and the (lack of) veracity of the witnesses (including LE, who failed to secure the crime scene), the only thing that has been established so far is reasonable doubt.

The poll is for how you personally feel.

If you feel comfortable and are so inclined, you could post about how you felt before the start of the trial and how you feel now.

As a local to the area with a upper level dressage barn, Ive been very aware of this situation and trying to stay informed and not listen to too much gossip. I felt for all parties involved but was of the careful opinion that you shoot someone you go to jail. If LK had done anything against the law she too should go to jail.

After watching most of the testimony and catching some of the legal information shared by lawyers on the other thread, I am convinced that MB was insane at the time and should be supported with mental health for as long as he needs it. (The multiple TBI’s and the long term stress of his business being undermined must have been overwhelming; I just cannot imagine.)

I do not know any of these people personally other then to see them at shows in warmup or stabling…. But what a complete and needless tragedy…

I think not guilty that’s what I’ve seen till now and that’s what I believe.

Especially for someone as psychologically fragile as MB! To have a person(s) prey on an individual, possibly knowing they have a history of mental & physical abuse (or even not knowing), is beyond the definition of evil!

While I morally agree with you about LK behavior is morally wrong, and to me personally reprehensible, I have yet to see where she has done anything illegal.

One of the hard things with the legal system in this country is it doesn’t matter what is right or wrong, it matters what the law says… that is why there are so many semantics being argued about that seem nonsensical.

Unfortunately, I’m really not sure that what LK did is illegal in any way. (She may have but I haven’t seen it or it hasn’t been brought to light during this trial) Doesn’t mean it’s not absolutely horrific, but in the eyes of the law, it’s absolutely not illegal… unfortunately I think this is why when MB was literally begging for help they couldn’t help him. It’s why battered women can’t be helped… the law doesn’t have boundaries for these situations to help prevent the escalation until it manifests in a horrible conclusion…

in New Jersey the recording of a conversation without both parties’ agreement is illegal

I must have missed that. Will be interesting to see if the state will charge her after this trial is over. I would hope so…

We can only hope. But it appears the police in that part of the world are not really willing to do anything, so more likely no charges will be filed.

if she is ever charged for anything she has plenty of grounds to claim insanity as a defense

We still don’t know the truth…we have LK & RG’s truth …should we take their word as Bible?..hell no! Even their individual versions of what happened don’t jive, and that alone should be a red flag for anyone with half a brain. In my own personal opinion, by LK admitting to the abhorrent things she did & said, and admitting she wanted to destroy MB.
I would refer to this, I believe a stalking charge against LK applies: https://www.rosenbergperry.com/practice-areas/criminal-defense/stalking/
