Zenyatta on foal watch... IT'S A BOY!!!!!

Someone on the Rachel Alexandra FB page just mentioned it! Anyone know for sure???

Exciting!!!

I doubt the horse is on foal watch but her handlers have been for some time now. Her due date is March 9th but the keep a close eye on them after day 320.

According to her diary, she began waxing up last Friday. So I’m guessing she is certainly on the farm’s foal watch, queen that she is…!
And if you believe her diary, SHE is watching too!:D:D

the Mosses have arrived in Ky - another sign that things must be moving along! Hope all goes well.

Mike Smith (or whomever posts for him on Facebook) just posted it should happen within the next 24 hours.

THIS WILL BE SUPER COOL !!!

This will be SUPER COOL ~~~

Thanks for posting …

There’s a note on her Facebook page that you can follow updates on Twitter. I don’t tweet, but if anybody does, they are indeed apparently on the final countdown.

Checked Twitter. Last tweet, 7 hours ago, said she was relaxed and yawning all day… (are they actually sitting up all night? Probably:lol:) That tweet would have been around 1:30 am. I would have been yawning too

There is someone sitting up all night at every farm in KY this time of year. Zenyatta isn’t the only mare on foal watch, probably not even the only mare at Lane’s End.

I just finished a blog post on the TDN blog about a visit with Zenyatta this past summer- I’ll never forget it. Christmas in July! Click here to read it.

Best Wishes to Team Zenyatta for a speedy and safe delivery for mare and foal.

Once the mares are into the final days of the pregnancy and are showing signs of impending labor, they are under 24 hour observation. Night foaling watch can either be dreadfully boring or wildly exciting and hectic. Lane’s End has several of the world’s most valuable mares in their bands (farm owned and boarded) and imagine if Zenyatta and 3 or more other mares all go into labor on the same night. Yes, Z is “the queen” but she’s got “maternity mates” that are multiple G1 producers expecting foals that could well be sales toppers at elite sales next year. That’s a ton of pressure on the foaling staff at Lane’s End.

This I am well aware of:yes: My comment was referring to the Mosses, who are likely the ones tweeting for Zenyatta!

I read on Z’s Facebook that Lanes End had coveralls made for the Mosses so I think that, indeed, if they are not up all night in the barn, they are very near by and hoping/planning to be there at the birth itself.

Any links to foal watch available?

lol…are you kidding?

Someone on TBC said she would most likely foal after everyone went home for the night because mare’s like to be alone when they foal! Truly a LOL moment! Like she has been unattended for a single second in the past month.

TONIGHT ???[/QUOTE]

Where’s the fingers-crossed icon?

You darn well know it will ALL be video recorded for insurance purposes alone. Our having the opportunity to witness is a diff issue. But I at least had to ask.
