It was awful! Go find last year’s “foal watch” thread if you need to kill some time. Lol. That’s why I refused to be the person to start this year’s thread - I was afraid of jinxing myself!
Oh man, I just caught up. What a crazy story! I’m sorry I missed it. I’ve been avoiding the foal threads since all my heartbreak breeding my TB mares back in TN and getting nothing every year. The fact that I’m here now is unreal.
The vet school was one of my first phone calls when I realized she was pregnant, but I decided against it because I couldn’t justify the cost for nothing more than a jittery feeling. Although at this point, she may end up there after all.
Yes, I’ve already used up all my “crazy COTH foal watch karma” after last year’s debacle. I have a strong suspicion my mare will be back to “normal” this year, but I’m making zero bets as of yet. I’m just going to sit back and wait.
And, yes, the UT vet school remains my “crap hits the fan” option from here. ~100 miles, I know the people involved…so they are my go to. Even if hauling over the (Monterey/Rockwood) mountain makes me super anxious.
@Texarkana, you aren’t in TN anymore, right? I thought I remembered you moving to MD? If you’re still in TN and ever need anything. please let me know, but I think I remember you having moved back north.
Aw, thank you! But yes, I’m back in MD. We left middle TN in 2017. Hard to believe it’s been that long!
Breeding season continues. We said goodbye to Faerie Queene and lovely Prince on Friday, they shipped north to KY for her date with Catalina Cruiser (more chrome on order for next year!). Yourn was bred to Gunnevera yesterday, and Sheza is confirmed in foal with heartbeat to Britannia Royal. Very excited for 2023!
Maybe if everyone on COTH mentally wills Jesse to foal today, it will happen.
Come on, Jesse!!
Brittania Royal looks so nice, what a great cross that should be! I didn’t know he was available in the US.
My filly is still looking great. She is a bundle of energy and I’m sure she will love when she has some other foals to play with, mom isn’t interested in taking a break from eating grass and playing with her. She seems very happy to run around in circles on her own right now though!
Frozen for this year’s breeding is supposed to ship up from FL this week, so hopefully that will all go smoothly. I was considering driving down to pick it up myself but it’s just a bit too far to drive round trip without an over night stay - it is 9-10 hours each way. If only it were in Ocala and not Wellington, I could manage! Or I could just fly and take it as carry on haha. This will be my first attempt with frozen and with a non local stallion, so fingers crossed!
Every time someone comments on this thread I rush over here to see if @Texarkana has had a foal yet.
Ditto!
Thanks, I have been really impressed with Britannia Royal, and Christine Miller at EMCO has it in stock, so it was a no brainer for me! I was lucky to drive 10mins down the road to pick it up, so no need to rely on the notoriously bad FedEx. It was my first time using frozen on my own mare as well, she took on the second attempt thankfully.
Still anxiously waiting for @Texarkana 's mare!
Well the 27th came and went… which seemed like an impossibility a few weeks ago when this all started and she was already waxing.
Sorry to update with no news.
OMG, Jesse! Give us that foal already, honey!
Geeze, Jesse! Get on with it, girl.
Release the hostage, ma’am!
She needs to sneeze that booger baby out! I’m so bad at waiting!
