back to Steady Eddie. He is STILL sound at 19 with all the racing starts, and all the eventing starts. Too bad his dressage will always keep him out of the top placings. He did Burghley with Boyd and IIRC he was very fast-only one or two seconds over time.
Amazing horse. Horses like this have their place too, a safe 5* horse to learn on is a special thing isn’t it.
Reminds me of my first event horse, 77 starts, raced until 9, did showjumping, dressage (terribly) before I got him, then evented to Prelim until he was 21/22ish. Tough as nails.
Missed the test for eBay but looks like a good score??
Irish horse? Anyone know or have the link to the breeding?
It was stunning. Worth a rewatch. I was already typing up something about this test when I saw your reply. It was on a Lauren Nicholson and Landmark Monte Carlo level of relaxed, soft, enjoyable.
As much as I joke around my life goals are to jump big things, I think my real riding goal is to produce a horse who looks as happy and harmonious as these pairs do. Obviously all of them are nice, but some horses truly look like they enjoy the work versus just doing it.
P.S - You can see breeding in the live scores, go here: https://kentuckythreedayevent.com/leaderboard4/
Click their score and the new box has their information at the top - rider name, horse name, breeder name, and if they know it, breeding. Ebay is by Escudo out of Contessa.
just rewatched it…its the harmony that’s sets those tests apart isn’t it. I agree completely, the horse looking happy and wanting to do what’s asked. That is what drew me into dressage, when you get a few strides of that it just feels amazing and keeps you wanting to be able to produce it all the time. Well deserved score.
perfect thanks I didn’t realize it was all there, excellent.
Liz’s first place test (so far) had scores of 70% and 77%. Big gap there.
You can also see it if you click on the competitor number. It doesn’t open a new tab, just expands on the existing page
Holly Jacks Smither is up next!!
Holly 34.2!
Too bad about the bobbles…but lots of room to improve in the scores.
Interesting to see Lumamba in a dressage saddle with a big fuzzy underneath. Didn’t Bobby ride her in an exercise saddle last year? It also looks like there’s a flash on a double bridle. I had no idea that was legal.
the scoreboard now shows them as eliminated…
Did anyone catch why Bobby Meyerhoff was eliminated? Was that the throatlatch comment?
I am surprised that people at this level get eliminated for using the wrong tack.
Yeah… I don’t know how someone, especially at that level, would think that combination is legal.
I did not see it, are their photos?
I was just thinking that too! My only thought would be maybe he uses it in the warm up and forgot to remove it? Every year you hear about people warming up with their whip at championships and forgetting to drop it for the test and getting eliminated.
But even then, why would they let him continue with the illegal tack? Surely if I could see it on the livestream the judges would have been able to see?
