2023 Maclay Finals Discussion Thread

No rules for video review in equitation at this point. It’s kind of like jumpers - up to the rider to point out any flaws with jumps prior to starting. Difficult in this situation since they can’t use the whole ring for their circle but that should have been seen.

Well, the horse definitely touched it, and probably hard enough that it would have come down regardless. That jump is probably making the jump crew batty.

Katie Smith’s horse is making me emotional to watch. He reminds me very much of my sister’s late junior hunter. Such a soft eye and thinking ears. She had quite a nice trip!

Carlee’s entrance didn’t seem to phase anyone. 96.5 at the Maclay is sensational.

Did anyone see Avery Glynn go, how was her trip?

Currently imagining the judges viewing an instant replay and having the rules official come in the screen a la Gene Steratore for football on CBS

So I have determined the best way to watch Maclay finals: on a beach with high speed Wi-Fi and watermelon margaritas. I am going to try and replicate this in the future

Avery had a lovely go - Ava was very complimentary.

I love that Any Given Sunday is still going! Gorgeous round with Abigail!

Anyone know how to contact the commentators??

They mentioned they had received some comments from the clipmyhorse Instagram I think

I wish they wouldn’t talk about themselves for the entirety of a rider’s round.

I love Camilla Jerng’s horse! Shame they got long to the swedish.

And the fact that there is another collegiate equestrian association that does not discriminate between men and women or levels of riders. I understand that NCEA competition is Ava’s specialty, but IHSA has produced a number of Olympians and remains inclusive of all. And has western as well.

Is it just me or are there a lot more rails falling than years past?

Anyone on the scene know - are they bringing more back for the flat or is just the standby list coming back?

Jordan Allen is so chill. Or tired? But i think chill :joy:

I would imagine they wouldn’t invite anyone back not on the standby - because if you don’t make the standby wouldn’t the idea be you are done and no longer need to be “standing by” to come back? Maybe I’m over simplifying after 8 straight hours of watching the class :joy:
