I get that money doesn’t buy talent and I hate when people use other’s money as a way to minimize accomplishments, saying the only reason X person won medal finals is because they had the money to get there but… saying things like “hard work will get you just as far as money will” and “there is no limit to how far you can go if you work hard” is just beyond pale. In a way, I wonder if they are actually coming from a good place wanting to be encouraging to any young kids watching, but I think there is a way to do that while also acknowledging the very real barriers that exist for so many. Ok, off the soapbox now.

It’s pretty crazy. I remember seeing him at Lake Placid when he had just gotten his first pair of tall boots, which feels like it was maybe last year. But it was not.
To be fair, I will say that Oliver Kennedy and his wife Rachel have helped multiple riders get somewhere, and Ava has experienced it from the other angle as a working student at North Run, which also has a track record of giving riders a boost. So they both have legit views on the subject based on their own backgrounds.
People still have to find their way to that working student type position at a top barn in the first place, which is not necessarily an available option for everyone.

I went for a run and would have been back by the time Ellie Aronson went if not for a very long red light. How was she? I want to steal Conthacco.

I walked in the house as she was petting him while leaving the ring. He’s stinking cute. I’m such a fan.

That was awfully good by Cody Rego. Textbook through the 5. The little “wazzat?!” moment from the horse didn’t bother me- Cody put his leg on and said “it’s a jump buddy!” and the horse just said “oh a jump okay!” and that was the end of it.
