2024 Maclay Final Thread

More siblings who ride well! Yay for them.

Have we seen four sets today?

I’d like Mia Muscarello’s gray horse please, and Maggie King’s bay.

I don’t think I’ve seen Brooke Haggerty yet, but I’m really liking her style. Someone I foresee could make it much farther out of her junior years.

Can somebody report back for me on JJ Torano? I’ve got to get up to the barn before feeding time and it’s just not going to work if I wait another few trips before I leave the house.

Very nice go there for Brooke Hagerty. Something in the water in that household!

I love seeing how good she’s been riding this fall! Her dad was one of my trainers when I was a junior and it’s been fun to watch his kids succeed. She’s a lovely rider and her brother looks like a mini version of dad when he rides.

And she’s young! Super accurate and I love the way she attacks the courses.

Nice trip by Maggie King. Huge step on that horse!

I remember her dad Richard Rinehart sailing around the junior jumpers with Touch & Go, always with a big grin and full of moxie. He would see someone do four in a rollback and do it in two. Successfully!

Katalina’s horse looked a bit overwhelmed, but she rode great and gave him a ton of confidence. What a cutie!

Richard may or may not be one of the reasons I love a leave-out lol. Or at least I’ll blame it on my years with him!

I’m intrigued how (or if) they’re going to move that giant Japanese house out of the ring for the flatting!

He had a rail at 3B and then a swap at the second to last jump. Very smooth other than that.

J.J. had a rail and a swap. Otherwise a good round.

I think they’ll take everything out of the ring for the flat. I don’t know if it might take a forklift for that particular piece. Lol.

Or maybe it is built from smaller components.

Kate Laborde should win the “Made the Best of a Bad Situation” award for her round earlier this morning.

Poor Annabelle - to come all that way and sit around all day and your horse does not want to play. So hard.

I did not keep count, but I think we’ve only seen a handful get eliminated in the first round. Which is certainly a much lower number than a lot of years in the past.

I think there have only been 2 - the fall and the one with 2 stops.

Emma Simon’s horse is a cutie.

I think there were a couple others who had two stops. Including the one that never even got in the canter to leave the ingate area.

But there were not many. Yay.
