Re. no stirrups: I hate to cross my irons. My horse doesn’t want those things banging around on his shoulders! If I do my job right, my leg will hold the iron against his side and it’ll tap the girth if it moves.

The caissons were quite spectacular back in the day.
Interesting that basic flat work changed the standings so much. Kate Hagerty, Blake Rowan, and Rylynn Conway all moved way up.

Ahhh, I’m bummed for the younger Hagerty girl. It’s hard to be second (to your older sister) all the time.
On the other hand, the younger one has more years left as a junior.

I feel exactly the same. And there always seems to be a funny lump from the leather at my stirrup bar that gives me a bruise on my inner thigh…I’d rather pull them off entirely if it’s a long no-stirrups session, or just let em hang for a short exercise/test in the ring.

I really hope every single one of those horses from the flat phase got a chance to go back in the stall, get the tack off for a few minutes, get a drink, eat a little hay, and relax for a bit.
