Oh my. He is lovely. Congrats.
Carina is still just holding steady at the vet clinic, per this morning’s update. The foal’s heart rate is 64 bpm, which does confirm that we’re in the homestretch. It’s just a waiting game now. Maybe she will be nice and wait until my trip ends but not hang on for much longer than that and run up my board bill.
Fingers crossed for you and Carina, that the foaling is successful and as inexpensive as possible.
@ASBJumper I’m sure you’re exhausted and doing all the new baby things. Please update soon. That little leggy boy speaks to me. And I think he’s special.
See, those legs needed extra time to grow Congrats! He is precious
LOL, yup… It’s pretty labour intensive initially, with me boarding mom & baby at a co-op barn, but i wouldn’t have it any other way. Thankfully mama is easy to handle, very respectful and doesn’t get too flustered by routine changes.
The little man is an absolute gem, non-reactive and chill, stays close to mom and plays it safe. Just starting to get curious about the tall, two-legged beings showing up in his house all the time and his favorite scritchy spot is his neck, lol…
Gorgeous pair!!!
Today’s update on Carina is that she looks to be within a couple of days of foaling. I fly home tomorrow; maybe she will be kind and wait for me to return. Even better if she doesn’t let me drive home from the Nashville airport only to have to turn around and drive back to the clinic.
As an aside, I attended a couple of very interesting presentations of new research this week that found links between uterine inflammation, fibrosis, and PPID. And now I have all kinds of new thoughts and questions rolling around in my brain about Arielle.
We had a last minute arrival yesterday - an Arabian that is 340 days in foal. I am…not quite sure she’s actually pregnant. She’s roly poly in the too many cookies sense, rather than the pregnant sense.
I am going to talk with the owners Monday about having her scanned. It’s funny that we went from never having an Arab to having several this season alone!
So depending on Monday, there may be one more foal for us this year!
Any updates on Carina, @Montanas_Girl?
I have nothing much to report other than Finn and Arya are both doing great. I am lucky in that a number of the boarders in the co-op are excellent amateur photographers and regularly send me shots like this one:
Nothing at all wrong with that report!
No news yet, @ASBJumper. If she doesn’t foal by Wednesday, I’m going to need to take her more feed, so I will check in on her in person then.
Maybe she’s decided she likes the cushy clinic life.
Anna Marie is great! And big! Fionna is confirmed back in foal (different stud this time).
Papers came back, her registered name is “JS Fire Woman”
No in person report today on Carina. A very nice coworker offered to take her feed to the clinic for me, since it would only require a short detour on his way home vs. many, many miles of driving for me. I will take a couple hours off work on Friday afternoon and go visit her then.
More pictures of Firefly.
I was so impressed this morning. His mom came in without him for breakfast and he was just standing out in the pasture, calmly looking around. No panic at all.
He is very interested in people and if you are trying to do anything outside, he’s right next to you following you around, getting in the way.
Love when they pop out of the womb knowing they’re fabulous lol. She’s adorable!
