26 Welsh ponies in danger in Michigan

I went to O’Neils the day after the sale to look at some saddles- and asked what he had on the farm… he said “nothing worth looking at” no ponies there at all- cute grey gelding out in the pasture but not broke and ‘one of the girls was going to get it riding’

He does have a pony rider/trainer that comes out and rides and has an absolute obsession with ponies… So if he was there- chances were he would have been there to get her some projects for re-sale…

Thank you Irkrame!

It is extremely unlikely that the pony with the cryptorchid testicle has bred anything. Any testicle retained within the body cavity cannot produce viable sperm. The heat from the body kills sperm at that temperature. basically…it boils them. Thats why testicles are held outside of the body

Its worth it to probably check the mares but it is extremely unlikely that any mare was bred by him

Try again. Dirctly from the College of Veterinary Surgery.

THe very first paragraph states that “unilateral cryptorchids are fertile, bilateral cryptorchids are often sterile”. The pony has ONE descended testicle. He is likely perfectly fertile.

I can only find GIGI on the 2006 and there was a 3 yr old Pal

I have another list and your pony could be Marigold. I think you already emailed me if so I have passed it along

.[/QUOTE]

If she is Marigold, that’d be amazing, as it’s the name my son came up with. As of now, she remains unnamed, hoping we can keep her original name if we find it out.
I really appreciate all that you’ve done! You guys are amazing!

I have to brag on this girl, however! She is just…impressive! She trusts people so much; once she gets the “plan”, she’s all about being as good as she can be. I am slowly working on her legs, and her tummy. Tonight, as she ate her hay, I was able to pull her mane. Yup, she just stood there, happy for the attention. I am on my 3rd day of powerpaking her, and she takes the wormer like a champ. My orphan colt adores her- but is not allowed access, as his big old warmblood body does not understand that he is about 1100 lbs to her (maybe) 500. He is very miffed, however, that she has gotten all of his attention:lol:

It’s clear that these ponies are very well bred, and have been well loved. I am so sorry for the breeder, but hope that she can take some comfort in knowing that her ponies are very well loved. Because our little palomino pony is indeed well loved!

I ended up standing near O’neill after the sale - there was quite a crowd trying to get out the door - & I heard him telling someone he hadn’t bought anything.

Great to hear

Hooray! and thank you and the old owner is so pleases nice people have her ponies! when she has time she will look up info…ENJOY!
Penny, glad no killers

Aw Annika, I’m so glad you like her!!! She loaded on the trailer like a champ, so I had hopes she would have a level head.

I need to come pet her…I need pony therapy (and Annika therapy)

I also have your funds to return.

Hugs

O’Neil

I keep reading that O;Neil didnt get any of these ponies but…I have been sent pics of the welsh ponies that arrived at O’Neils the next morning. Three of them.

Not sure if they are part of the crowd or not but…it is probably worth looking into. If there is anyone who actually knows the group, I would be happy to send pics of three ponies in question to possibly identify.

Shoot! I was in South Lyon working today.

If any are at O’Neills and anyone wants to purchase them, I can try to help with that.

is it possible O’Neill just transported the ponies? The woman I heard him talking to said she had bought one but didn’t have a trailer. And its been said before - he buys horses for resale as well, I was not aware of any of the ponies selling anywhere near meat prices. If he does have any for sale, I’d like to know, since I came home empty-handed!

I received the pictures and talked with the photographer at length. I do not believe they are ponies from this auction: two are chestnut and white pinto, one is bright bay.

This person was also concerned about the claims that O’Neill does not ship to slaughter. He has told her himself that he supplies a shipper in Port Huron who routes them to slaughter in Canada.

Ugh, that made my stomach turn …

ANy photos of the EENSY BABY LAMB, BTW ??

BM – I mean to get you the photos, just busy as he!!
