26 Welsh ponies in danger in Michigan

Here ![](s my new guy Cooper aka Palustrine’s Dawn Treader. He has been a really good boy, leads well, picks up his feet now, and comes right up to you in the pasture.

Yes, it is very very possible these ponies are not part of the crowd at all. It is also possible that he transported or is holding some. Many scenario’s are possible. Not suggesting at all that these are slaughter bound. In fact, if they are as nice as they apparently are, O’Neil would be foolish to ship them, he could resell and I am sure he is well aware of that.

But, this is why I was sent the pics, in hopes that someone who knows the ponies could identify if they are any of that group. Glad someone did.

What a beautiful pony, how big and how old?
looking forward to pics of all these ponies as the months unfold.

You have a ![](rateful horse, I wonder if they know that they were in danger?

O’Neill

There were no paints for sale on Saturday night, so he probably picked those up somewhere else. And yes, he does sell horses for slaughter - but he resells as well. As far as kill buyers go, there are worse ones around here - Jaron comes to mind…

Well then they must be equal if he sells to Jaron.

Try again. Dirctly from the College of Veterinary Surgery.

THe very first paragraph states that “unilateral cryptorchids are fertile, bilateral cryptorchids are often sterile”. The pony has ONE descended testicle. He is likely perfectly fertile.[/QUOTE]

I thought it was UNDESCENDED. My apologies

Does he? I have no idea… I am probably very high on the list of people that Jaron dislikes very, very much. I am certainly not welcome at his barn. At any rate, I’m not trying to defend/justify/support the KBs, just trying to clear up the confusion over whether or not O’Neill bought any of the Welsh ponies. As far as I know, the ponies were all sold to good homes & I have no further information to contribute.

Pictures?!?!? show us what you got!

DITTO, Trey was one that I would have liked to pic up! He looks really cute.

Thanks to all regarding Kody too!!! I am happy to have him

I sent you the pics that were sent to me. Again, lets not go off the deep end. Someone was simply concerned that these might be ponies of the 26 but is also well aware that there are three ponies standing at the KB no matter what.

There could be many reasons for this after an auction but, if he is amicable to deal with and someone didnt get a pony who wanted one, here’s your chance.

I am still trying to get a pony. There are ponies with a KB?

O’Neil

I purchased my pony cross from O’neil about 8 yrs ago…and she turned out to be a great little mare. My nieghbor bought 2 from him. I also lived in South Lyon for 10 yrs and everyone knows O’neil … I used to drive by his place and look in pasture to see what he had picked up at auction and so did many other horse people. He has an eye ( as they say)for decent horses and ponies, supplies alot of kids camps and lesson barns their horses. My son went to camp near Jackson and yes all their horses from O’neil. He took alot to Wildwind for their lesson horses. He likes ponies for that reason, very easy to sell to these places. He lives at Angle Rd and 7 mile , can’t miss his corner pasture. I used to just pull in and ck them out, always friendly and happy to tell me what he knew about the new arrivals. He also is a horse transporter , picked up a few for me. I can’t imagine he would take ponies to slaughter, too profitable to sell ! He probably paid no more than $200 for mine and sold her to me for $900…this is how he makes a living. I never heard of him being a KB, he’s just known as " the horse dealer" that you could trust, but… a friend of mine was with him that Sat at auction , I will call her and ck out so our minds at ease.
Pics of Hope ( one eyed pony) coming soon, 4 yr old rode her with bitless bridle…she is just a wonderful pony !

Ponies

Yes, there are few perfectly good ponies standing at the KB right now.

Any idea of how much time they have before the KB sends them to slaughter? :frowning:

Do you know any details on those ponies? Maybe some of the posters who indicated an interest earlier would still be interested.

A friend of mine picked up 2 stallions and a mare from this auction, which is an odd coincidence, because I only saw this thread now. I’m going to see them tomorrow hopefully… I’ll take some pictures :).

there are plenty here at the Clairmont auction and Carsons…and you don’t have to pay shipping…the next stop from these auctions are the slaughterhouses…look around in your own backyard! You can google for both auctions although I’m sure you are aware. Carsons has a huge sale 8/1 and there is a catalogue online

thanks I can’t wait to get him started!

Is there a one year update? Anyone want to show pics or stories of how their ponies turned out? Did the little crypt get gelded? I know that both little sheep became mommies within days of the auction.

seriously? We placed 26 ponies a year ago and no one has an update???
