26 Welsh ponies in danger in Michigan

Looks like I’ll be going too to do some proxy buying for a COTHer.

I just spoke to my friend Jess who was planning to go to bid on tack, and she can bring a trailer…she has a 2 horse, but she can borrow a larger stock from her neighbor.

I wish I could hold some here for folks, but I’m at my township limit and all of my property is very visible from the road.

If the ponies are in need of trims, I am happy to donate trims to any that will be housed or held within and hour or so of here.

I plan on going and buying, however, I would need to have them hauled (got the truck but no trailer). Or, if someone could hold them overnight, until I arranged shipping to Metamora. Anyone willing to hold them if I don’t have a ride for them until Sunday. Or want to rent a bumper pull to me that day?

Pennyhill - do you have a trailer, but no truck right now? Maybe we could figure something out and save some cute ponies. (FYI, I will be making a trip to your barn with my client to look at Wubzy again on Friday, we could talk about it then.)

I would love to meet up with the rest of you so we are not bidding against each other. I looked at the website and it looks like they may have a few TB/Welsh and Quarter/Welsh crosses as well.
Kingsboro…I will be going with my friend and her truck and trailer.

My truck has a dead tranny right now, but you are welcome to borrow my trailer if you want to pick it up from my old boarding barn in Grass Lake.

It’s a funky old 2 horse straight, and you’d need to air up the tires as it’s been sitting ( I can try to get out there sooner and prep it for you if I can).

SusanP, all of these ponies are 5 & under and their training is unknown. Plz confirm if you are still interested.

Okay, please send me corrections, and I will update this. Please indicate preferred age/sex of pony if it matters.

Also, we will need a system for setting up proxy bids, deciding max bids, and getting funds to the proxy. It may be better to delegate this to a single person and use a paypal account.

Ok, here is the story for REAL

Hi here I am…
so, here is some info some of you might want to know…
I have spoken to the owner of the ponies as I bought one several years ago that she owned in an auction in Ohio. Yes, the broke ponies are gone for the most part. This is a divorce issue and it’s very ugly. Her daughter who has worked with and knows the ponies will be in attendance which will take place at the Auction place

I INTEND to purchase KODA and ASTER most likely. The auction people do not know the names of the ponies but, the daughter does. Both these ponies are FULL brothers to the pony I bought. I am a trainer and my pony turned out great showing at the A shows. The ponies look rough but, do fill out and muscle up when fed. The stallions are decent and Starlit Majestic Black Eagle has produced some lovely offspring inculding her small stallion. The older stallion goes back to older pony lines but, they are decent.

PM me if you’d like as I do know what is going on and if you are serious about a pony and a good home I may be able to help you out especially with the Welsh papers. Most are paperd if they are 2 on up. Some of the younger ones are not.

I hope the ponies will get sold and we will have the 2 horse tailer. If there are ponies that interest us we will by a few more if the prices are right. We are an A circuit group but, also have pleasure riders…my point they will get great homes!

I hope that we will not work against each other in the bidding. I will not be in attendance but, have someone who will be for me and a rider. Thanks, Carolyn

Ahh Yes I will be attending. I do plan on being there for the tack so I’ll be there by 5:30 or so so I can be sure to check out the tack and get a good seat. Seating is fairly limited if it is well attended. The holding stalls are behind the auction ring. Be sure to stop in and register for a number in the front office. If I remember correctly when the turn 3 ranch horses sold they did holda large number of them until the next morning for those who needed to arrange transport. I can bring my trailer but would really prefer to not haul at night if we can wait to pick up until Sunday. I’m NOT buying a pony! At least that is what I keep telling my hubby! I can’t hold either as I have no separating pens. But I’m happy to proxy bid or at least go and sit with whomever is bidding!

YAY JESS!!!

Welcome to COTH…it’s about time girl

If I had my own place I’d take one in a minute, but unfortunately I board out, and can’t afford a second equine at the moment. I’d love to have one of the young geldings to break to drive.:frowning:

That said, I may have a friend/breeder who would take “Indy” (Independence Day) if she were available and the price was right (including getting her to Maine). Feel free to PM me if anyone is definately hauling in this direction. I could probably get out of state somewhere to pick up, but not much farther than 5-6 hours in any direction.

I love Welsh ponies:D, and I hope all of these end up in nice homes.

My DD wants a young one, and is in NC (near SC), so can add a few to my load…
this wasn’t a good thing to read… Annikak… if a spare gets on your trailer I’ll take it off your hands… I’m just over the NC SC line to the SC side.

There are some gorgeous ponies on that page! Here’s the link again to the sale ponies that IHF posted: http://www.palustrinefarm.com/sale/index.html

I love the color of that liver cream (Dancer) and the dapple grey. And the chestnuts Star and Lady have such sweet expressions.:sigh:

I hope they ALL get good homes. (fingers crossed icon…!)

She said that the broodmare were there so I think that Indy might be…there were a few I knew from the past auction in Ohio I asked about and they were the broke ones and those are not there…but, she said something about broodmares being there

What’s with the collars? Anyone know?

Me, too. So what now, ladies?

I want a pony. Tiempo will be there… she is already proxy buying for other cothers… Allison… Ohhh Allison…

Eqt… can I stash my pony at your place for two months until I get my fencing up.

This is such a bad idea… bad bad bad idea… why do I read these threads???

I will take 2, if they go for my budget and if we can get a shipment this way.

I’m still trying to understand how to make this all work

I wish I was smaller… and had more money. I would totally buy one, or two, or a couple, or all of them…
Bump

SSFLandon,

Is there any way the daughter can draw up a list of what ponies will be there, and their ages, markings etc? Can you contact her or put someone on here in contact with her?

The best way to make sure that all the ponies go to appropriate homes is to have as much information available as possible. We can organize who is interested in which ponies before the auction to avoid bidding against each other. I also imagine out of town buyers would feel better if they had an idea of what they might get.

I have another trailer lined up now, and more loading help. They can have my front field for the night and I can keep a few for a couple of days IF shipping is lined up ahead of time.

What’s the closest anyone is coming to New England with a trailer?

Can’t believe I’m even contemplating this. . .

Kingsboro, you have a PM about a trailer in Holly that may be available.
