26 Welsh ponies in danger in Michigan

I wish I had the room and finances…I would scarf up one for the little ones.

You all are the best! another COTH “intervention” in the works!

um, hey… can I help? PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP

I dont want a pony, but, I have a TRAILER. I can also TRIM for anyone. between me and Allison we can probably get them all trimmed before they are loaded. it sounds like these guys all need trims.

I dont know where the auction is, but, Manchester is about 1.5 hours south of me.

Kingsboro - glad to hear you’re coming over on Friday, any idea what time? I haven’t heard anything specific from your client. I do have a trailer, but its a ginourmous old steel 6 horse that I haven’t used for a while, I usually just have someone else trailer for me because its just annoying to haul something so big. If Iron Horse can keep ponies overnight, hauling on Sunday should not be a problem.

I’m still planning on being at the sale, might have to bring the kids tho! If they’re going cheap I can take a couple ponies. Sounds like there might not be enough ponies to go around at this rate!

I sent an email to my students/boarders about this with specific instructions that none of them were allowed to have a pony - because you know who would have to break and train it? Yep. Yours truly. I’m getting married in less that two months, I have a young Trak. that I still have to break, and a couple of horses in training. I. don’t. have. time. NO PONIES.

So I was discussing this situation with my wonderful fiance last night and guess what he said? Yep. “We should get a pony.”

I nearly had a stroke.

So in a matter of two days I’ve gone from not wanting to be too involved to offering a couple of stalls at my barn which is down the road. Now it looks like I’m trailering to my barn. And my fiance wants a pony (I still like to think I have the final say on that one!) I will be at a show all day in which I have to get up at the crack of dawn and now I’ll be up into the late hours of the night. And my fiance wants a friggin’ pony. I’ve lost all control

So Far Gone Farm will be there Saturday night in full force. All of us. I have one more spot in the trailer and one more stall for temp. stabling.

Why do I feel like I’ve slowly been pulled over to the dark side…

Okay, I now have a trailer to use thanks to jn4jenny! She has generously offered use of hers for the day. I plan on purchasing at least one gelding for sure. I’m glad the daughter will be there for helping to identify the ponies such as names, ages, training, etc.

Pennyhill-We can meet up at the auction if you want. If I only get one, there will be a space for one for you! I have to talk to my client, we are looking at about 6 horses on Friday and will be traveling from Howell to your place and in between. I will have a firm idea this evening with regards to time.

SSF-you have a PM

Under 5 would be terribly young. She’s a good rider but still considered a beginner/leadliner and only 4 years old. I wouldn’t mind keeping a pony for a year but it sounds like by the time he could be ridden my granddaughter would outgrow him.

I saw on their web site a 2002 pony gelding. I was hoping he or the black one would be available.

I’ll talk to my granddaughter’s trainer and see what she thinks.

This was the pony I thought might work out for me.

If this one is not available then I thought maybe this one
Palustrine Citizen “Patriot” - 2002 12.3HH Black Welsh Gelding

And though this pony is large if he’s very quiet he might work out too. But I was hoping for a medium size.

Borrowed Trailer Insurance

Those of you borrowing trailers please take out temporary trailer insurance.
Some ins. companies don’t automatically cover a borrowed trailer, and the owner’s ins. might not cover your use of it.
Call your ins. co. and get insurance.

I will see what I can do and let you know…I will not be there but, have people who will be for me.

I can say that Stars and Patriot are not for sale

Okay, the two ponies I would be interested in, in order of interest, are Independence Day “Indy”, and Enduring Freedom. Both are 5 year old broodmares.

But, and it’s a huge but, it hinges on the price they sell for and whether or not anyone has room to trailer them closer to New England.

Any of you organizers can PM me and then I can also give you my email. I will be out of the house and away from computer access for a few hours, but I’ll check back as soon as I can.

these ponies will NOT be at the auction PM me if you want details

Oh wow you all are amazing!!! This is wonderful!!

Indy is there Freedom is not

Just sent you a PM, Carolyn, but you beat me to it here on the board. Thanks for the update!

So, how close is anyone coming to New England?

What about having cell phone contact during the sale for those who are really interested but not there?

FYI

just an update that is NOT a rumor…

this is currently going through an appeal process. If the owner gets her way (hopefully) as she is been violated within the justice system this sale won’t happen…

although at this point things are moving forward but, I wanted to mention it

PRAYING FOR THE BEST FOR THEM

please keep us posted

Whether or not I can keep any of these ponies, you can use my pasture for a short while, maybe a month if necessary and I’ll take care of them till they can find homes.

Unfortunately I’m still in PA so it’s a haul.

Even if I can’t find our dream pony I would like to help if needed. I’ve done it before and summer months are easier.

I think everyone here would be happy to hear that the ponies get to stay in their home, if that happens. We’re all just a bunch of sappy pony lovers!

I really don’t need a pony; but I would help one in need.

Well of course you can!! How silly of you to even question such a thing  I am the ultimate enabler…

I love the words - “I want a pony”. well of course you do!

What are we supposed to be doing now? Someone needs to keep me updated as I am not at the computer often these days…

You offered cookies to those coming to the dark side. I think you’re too far gone.
I hope the karma faeries take up permanent residence in your barn. Bless you for this.
