A pictoral timeline of hunter dress codes from the last (gulp!) 50 years. UPDATE: New Pics -- p8

LH, these are such wonderful photos! Thank you for sharing them. I hope you don’t mind that I saved the MSG photo of Valor as my desktop photo.

Any coupon works! Beware of paper cuts!

suzss, no you weren’t the only one with a madras coat.

And before the rest of you youngsters start laughing, remember, this picture was taken in 1968.

Oh Lordhelpus-

How great it is to see your family photos with the horses. I have really loved looking a them. I LOVED SEEING YOU IN A TIE!!! I remember wearing a tie and that little perky bow the ratcatcher shirts came with.

Please!!! Keep the pictures coming!!!

Bow? I dont remember a perky bow. Tie, yes (SO Pony Club!), but bow? Do you mean the little tie that helped you keep your stock in place?
See how old I am - the memory is seriously going!

Hello, I bumped into xegeba who it turns out told a complete lie. I’m afraid I’m not a techno-nerd. Then again I’m always willing to talk about things I really know nothing about so here goes.

Sounds like MAD might have solved the problem with his/her good idea.

You can’t re-register for COTH using the same e-mail you used for the initial profile. Do you have a second e-mail address you could use for the second registration?

I would think you can’t log in on two computers at the same time using the same profile. Are you logged out on the first computer before you try to use the second?

I’m only on photo at age six so far. And loving it! What a great idea!

Wait a second Merry… I do not think equitation is boring. Please Post pictures!

Uhm, that would first require a scanner…

Tell ya what, it would be either a damn brave judge or one who was doing a tiebreaker to check in my book. I can only imagine what it would be like to get a whiffy of Eau de Dead on a blazing summer day!

your mom - cool photo!

LH early 50’s was our debut at Hilltop… I remember the trail rides, if we were very good in our lessons. And what great used clothes we all were able to afford. Something, that doesn’t happen any longer. And of course, the shows at Watchung Stables. I do remember seeing the stall signs, that were to me, lovely. Enjoyed knowing about the horses…

Poka Dot jump! Yay! LoL! And I love how in the picture of you jumping the grey with the rust breeches, they were almost the same color as the jump standards!

Fast forward 9 years:

Montpelier VT 1964

More braids in the mane, better tail job, stubben saddle with real sheepshin saddle pad.

Boots have patent leather tops and breeches have the flair at the thigh since they have no stretch in them.

But, all in all I am starting to look a little modern. But still (gasp) using an automatic release.

I love these!

Resistance is futile. Conductance is one over futile.

Pam that last photo of you and Valor is absolutely amazing! It is an image of true inspiration to many of us… I think I will wait for this thread to be far off the front page before I decide to post a photo of myself!
You are a beautiful rider!
Just awesome Pam! You have to be so proud… You know, I think you should think about having a book published of your show life with these wonderful horses! Maybe Merry could do the writing?

Whoa! horsaholic. I am just an average rider on the circuit I ride on. Keep in mind, I only showed you the good pictures. For some reason I chose not to post pictures of the chips, the bad jumps and the bad horses (possibly because I would not spend $$ to buy those pictures in the first place).

I have had some nice horses. But I have also had some real average ones. You will never see pictures of Alice-You-Pig or Ratso or Louie on this BB (Thank God. You would be screaming “My eyes, my eyes” like whazzername on Friends).

Believe me, if a book is worthy of being written, therre are hundreds, if not thousands, of people more worthy of starring in it than me.

Lord Helpus…Such a cool topic, love the pics!

Pam - what an amazing shot of valor. It was so nice of you to share it and your other pictures.

And even though mine doesn’t compare, I’ll keep the pictues going by attaching one of California fashions in 1974. Red coat with gold buttons (including two on the back) and black velvet collar, matching red yarn in the braids, rolled bridle, large round number with wire that looped over the collar and some sort of transitional crest/automatic release.

Any other pictures to share?

LH thank you so much for the pictures, that was fun. I LOVED the styles in the 70s-80s actually, maybe I am the only one? For someone like myself (well endowed in the bottom half) rust breeches were the BEST!

BTW, you have had some wonderful horses!

“Dan the Man”

Hey Xegeba, we are leaving West Palm Beach and the computer signal from the Merlin drops crossing the State, so if I’m not back on the Board until later I’ll be back to see if you are going to the Selection Trials. I wish I lived closer so I could go watch, and have lunch with you!!

Lord Helpus, did your parents ride? Not too many 6 yr.olds doing that kind of stuff without horsey parents. And how tall are you? The second picture you posted, it look like you’ve got some long legs. Got anymore for us?
