Abigail the BLM burro

This happened to me, too, when I was five. I was beyond shocked to find that a baby sister had been added to the household. Who said that was ok ??? :joy:

Tony and I have a lot to talk about. But I didn’t think of rearing, biting, and lunging at people.

The baby sister turned out to be a pretty good sort, but that was a couple of decades later.

I hope Tony will adjust more quickly! I have hopes. He does seem to like his big lady.

Tony has been much better these last few days. I chase him off if approaches me with ears back. Ears forward, he gets a good boy pat. It seems to be working. It does seem like every time he gets a chance to take advantage of someone, he needs retraining.

Abigail has made new friends! She accepted our two goats immediately (they’ve been neighbors for months).

The farrier is coming out to trim her hooves, finally. I think she will tolerate him this time. Last visit, he just touched her feet and gave her treats.

OMG I love her!

I love her eyes. Even through the screen, her eyes look right through you, as if she knows all your secrets and is ready to be your friend.

It’s the wispy little top of the mane and luxuriously long ear hair for me.

I think those wispy ear hairs need some kind of holiday bows or barettes. They’re just screaming to be adorned.

Ow no I don’t think Abigail would be comfortable with that. Would pull on her sensitive ear.

But maybe painted pink, or something. Maybe sparkles.

Is Tony behaving?

Thanks for asking. I keep him tied when I work with Abigail. They both get attention, but he doesn’t get the opportunity to act out his jealousy. When I finish with her, I lead him to the gate, remove his halter, and praise him for being a good boy when his ears are forward. Then I exit. Simple and quick. If I work with him alone, no problem.

You know, they say that for human sibling jealousy, and for doggy ‘littermate’ hatred, the answer is that each receives their individual attention time. I guess Abigail and Tony are yet another example. The trials of parenting!

I think we could use some Abigail pictures when you get a chance. I adore her fluffy ears.
