Add me to the speechless and teary-eyed club! I logged off last night anxiously awaiting news of Knowonder’s test results, and just look what happened while I was gone!! What a whirlwind the last 24 hours have been, and the journey has only just begun. More sleigh bells here in Northern Virginia jingling away for a successful surgery and recovery for Aiden, continued strength for Lisa and Joey, and deepest sympathy for the family who lost their dear child.

Checking in for the morning before leaving for work, to say we are all still pulling for you, little guy!!!

Fantastic news – hang in there, Aiden. I promise it’s worth it.

I had the biggest argument I’d ever had with my parents when I signed the organ donor card that came with my brand-new license when I was 16. My parents were concerned that being an organ donor might mean that I wouldn’t receive the best medical attention for me if I were in an accident. I found all kinds of information to convince them otherwise, and though I think that my mom still disagrees, they agreed to respect my wishes if ever faced with that situation. I was very proud that my younger sister made the same decision when she got her driver’s license. This thread reinforces that decision. I’ll show it to my parents; perhaps it will change their minds. --Jess

I love Aiden in the last photo- it appears he’s practicing for a siege of the Nurses station- “Okay nurses, give me ALL the Sweet potatoes and no one will get hurt!!!”

Hang in there Mom!!! Your doing GREAT!!!

Please tell me how to explain to my dad, who is sitting here on the couch watching Seinfeld, why I am laughing so hard that I’m crying!!!

I second the opinion that this story is Opera-worthy! I can’t believe how many lives Aiden, Lisa and Joey have touched by sharing this with us. I am not a materialistic person but I never realized that things like this can mean so much more than getting a brand new saddle or something for Christmas.

Dear sweet Aiden -

The fact that you are now strong enough to no longer need the narcotics is actually very encouraging news.

May this be the final oxer on your course.

Huggs from Toronto…

Can’t wait to see laughing pictures of Aiden!

I have been following this thread since the beginning and want you to know that prayers for Aiden’s continued good progress are on his way from Toronto.

May God bless you all…

Huggs,

-Patricia

I realize this is last minute and I may not fit the criteria (I haven’t read through the entire thread, so I’m so sory if I missed it!), but I am going to visit Luckyduck in Atlanta next weekend (12/20-22). I am willing to get any blood tests needed prior to flying down to see if I would be a match. Please let me know if that would work…and even if next weekend is too short a notice, I would still be willing to do it.

Gosh, have been hitting the refresh button for the last 2 hours. So glad to hear that everything went well!!! I have been praying since I read the upate that he was in surgery. Hugs, kisses and lots of love to the Hawk family. I’m sure Aiden will recover quickly!!!

What wonderful news ! Happy Holidays to the Hawk family and know that we are all thinking about you.

Nat IM’d me & caught me as soon as I signed on & told me the wonderful news!!! What a true Christmas miracle for the Hawks & their precious little one! My heart goes out to the family who lost their child before Christmas and made the heartwrenching decision to donate. And a big hug and hats off to you, Knowonder, for your selfless act and loving generousity~ what a brave thing you did! You all will continue to be in my prayers today & in the coming days…please keep us posted!!! YIPPEE!!! YAY!!! YAHOO!!! SUZ

Lisa, Joey, and Aiden,

you are truly blessed. The gift of a new liver, and the liver works, and such caring medical staff…
Aiden has all my prayers for an easing of his pain…he is such a fighter! Little Lionheart.

Lisa and Joey, you are holding up remarkably well. I too have had a loved one (ex husband) in the ICU in very grave condition for a long time, so I know the exhaustion, the elation, the crashing lows, the cafeteria food, the long days, and the hope. I am so proud of you, you are the best parents I know, and God knew that when He gave you Aiden.

love and hugs,
Linda
