Aiden update.. Posted Pictures! Must end the Aiden thread. Aiden is doing excellent. THANK YOU COTH!!! (137) 1/23

We are all here with you - you’re gonna be just fine!

Lisa and Joey take heart - this too shall pass - your little guy is a fighter!!!

Love and hugs and jingles and prayers…

What a sweet picture of him sleeping…

He must get better…

Lisa, the pics are great. It’s always a bit shocking to see a little baby hooked up to wires and machines but he looks great. The “before” pics amaze me in that you look so calm and unless you look very closely Aiden looks like any little baby, with mom and dad, getting his pic taken.

I’m so pleased with his progress and praying for continued rapid recovery.

I don’t know about you guys but I would really like for this story to be told when all is said and done–you guys have been amazing–with all the negative media out there–I think this kind of story is just what this world needs!

The Hawk’s and especially Aiden deserve to have their courage and faith proclaimed to the world!

Just a thought

and was putting together a couple writing ideas… I was going to sit down later and write my ideas down so that I don’t lose them…
This is DEFINATELY the sort of story that the world needs.

Equimom, that was so beautiful! You really have a special gift! I’m printing that one out…

Lisa, we need to be thanking you for sharing Aiden’s story with us, for helping to raise conciousness about the importance of organ donation, and last but not least, the opportunity for so many people to come together for something so right and good, and to be reminded of what’s really important. We’ve got to be put on this earth to help one another–why else are we taking a ride on this planet?

I know that the rest of God’s plan will fall into place, work for Joey will come when it’s supposed to. I know it’s hard not to worry about money (I’m the queen of that!) right now, but a few years from now, when Aiden is trotting around on his pony, the worry will be a distant memory!

Please do let us know what is needed for the little Lion Boy–sizes and everything, and where we can send them. I love love love to baby-shop!

My stepmother and I were talking about how I wished I could help Aiden, but the requirements were so stringent.

She immediately went off into a rant about how many people don’t donate blood, and don’t think to sign up for the organ donation list when they get their drivers’ license.

Then, she told me that one of the easiest ways to be a living donor is to register to be a bone marrow donor. She says the test is pretty easy, and there are places that offer it for free at certain times.

I haven’t had a chance to check into the details on this yet, but I just knew you’d all want to know about this idea.

Does anyone have any information about bone marrow donation?

I’ll check around myself and post details when I find them.

Somewhere there is another little boy laughing with you, smiling down upon you. And though we are sad for his family that he is no longer with him, we are all filled with joy that his parents were so selfless in making sure that you could laugh with Aiden again.

Lisa, again, as always, I take my hat off to you. You are a wonder, you are an inspiration. I am honored to know you.

I’m so glad ot hear Aiden is doing so well! I wanted to share this story with you:

Man Says His Faith Told Him To Help

POSTED: 7:59 a.m. CST January 3, 2003
UPDATED: 9:42 a.m. CST January 3, 2003

MADISON (WI) – A 5-year old girl is scheduled to undergo a kidney transplant this morning at University of Wisconsin Hospital.

The kidney is a gift from a total stranger.

The parents of Angela Rushford placed an ad in a Rockford newspaper saying their daughter needed a kidney.

David Harper answered the call, saying he had always planned to donate his organs after his death.

“She’s got her whole life to go, I mean, my life is half over, but she’s 4 years old,” he said. “She’s got at least 70 years. Why not let her enjoy a long healthy life?”

He says his faith called him to help the little girl.

“I’ve never met anyone to do this just for us – out of love and everything to help our daughter, he’s the greatest,” Angela’s mom, Betty Rushford, said.

Harper said he never read the Rock River Times before seeing the ad.

Awesome. I, too, want pictures.

Today’s subliminal message is:

Lisa, Aiden and Joey…

have been following all along but don’t post often and am SOOO glad to hear the news. Your courage throughout this ordeal has been a blessing to us all. It has made every one of us sit back and appreciate what we have and joined us in a common wish for Aiden. For one so young, your son has the power to reduce all the BB to tears or smiles with every stroke of the keys. Thank you. I believe that all will go well and that Aiden will one day learn of all the people that care for him and understand how you and your family have affected so many.

Many heartfelt thanks to the family of the donor, through their complete unselfish love, their child WILL live on and will continue to be loved and cherished not only by them but by all the people that know and will someday meet Aiden.

WHAT A GROUP!!!

SOmeone posts the right number to call…without hesitating, Weatherford calls !

FROM IRELAND!!!

Not only that, she GETS THROUGH!

Not only that, it is just the RIGHT MOMENT for Lisa, just the right touch of solidarity, of camaraderie, of genuine LOVE…

And now, we have not merely news, but some real, positive news!

Our Little Lionheart is fighting, and we are all there, breathing with him, in and out, in and out!

WHAT A NEW YEAR!!!

God knows we are as one in this, the good fight.

I’ve not posted on this thread, mostly because I just didn’t know what to say… I’m not good at this…
But I have followed this story from the beginning.
Aiden, mom, and dad have been in my thoughts and prayers since hearing of this tragic story.

I just want to say now that I am so very happy for you. And I feel blessed to have shared the pain, sorrow, and joy with you.

I have just told my husband about the successful transplant, and he’s now in tears too…

We’re both grabbing for tissues as I type…

God Bless you all.

Thanks to the COTH and the moderators for helping with all of this. I know it must have been a lot of extra work for y’all. You are great people.

That’s the best news I’ve had in a long, long time!

Aw man Lisa! What are you trying to do? Make everyone on this board storm over to your house to squish and kiss that adorable little boy of yours!?

I loved all those pictures; it’s good to see him smiling away! He didn’t look terrified in the pics but I guess one had to be there! It is pretty funny when kids are scared of Santa though, mine never was come to think of it.

Knowonder - I am just speechless by your actions. I was just catching up on this thread and once again I had to run to the ladies’ room one big teary eyed mess! Fingers crossed that everything works out and praying for all.

Bugger- I take too much medication. Birth control and migraine meds… Otherwise I’d be spot on too. I really really am hoping and praying that Sara can help you! I don’t even know you guys, and was thinking I’d like to try till I read the requirements.

and people say gov’t employees are useless… HA!

Aiden is in my prayers. I’ve jingled for him and he has been in my thoughts. I’m praying for him and the whole family, I wish you all the very best!!! I wish I could do more…

Hugs, Smiles, and love!!!

YAHOOO! Again I say, GO AIDEN!!! He really is a totally amazing little lionheart!

p.s. Are there any standing records for the “longest ongoing thread”, in COTH or anywhere else, and have we broken it yet?

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful…I truly don’t know what else to say–it does my heart good to see you and Aiden looking so wonderful–crying now, have to go

So many people have posted on this thread and written touching and wondeful posts. I’ve felt like I wouldn’t have much to add but after reading the last post I have to say LISA STAY STRONG, it’s hard you feel battered and breaking down but we are here to build you back up!!! Adein (brave beautful baby boy that he is) will not remeber the pain, he will rember the love. I ran to the barn last night and got the curb chain off of Sybils double bridle I am jingling it as I type. ((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))) to the whole Hawk family
