My grandmother passed away this past summer and boy I hope she’s listening now. What made her so special was her ability to pray. I should preface this by saying that she was not always a religous person. When my father was a child, she would drop him and his brother off for Sunday school and she and my grandfather would go to the local coffee shop to smoke and read the paper. Well one Sunday my uncle asked her why they always went to church but she never did. So it began…from then on she went to church every Sunday for 50 years.
Now going to church is one thing, but she was not only attending, she was involved in EVERYTHING. Especially her prayer group and boy did she have a list. Every night she prayed for 2-3 hours, usually on her knees, until it wasn’t possible, and I would swear she had God sitting there next to her. If you made the list you were probably in need of a little leg up from the heavens. She often prayed for mothers, sick friends, and guidance, but never for herself. However, if you one of the people who happened to get your name written not one her paper, but by a specific passage in her Bible, buddy, you had major issues. (My sisters name was in there several times but we won’t get into that.) I would always tell her that when she got to heaven to put a good word in for me, cause if she couldn’t get me in, no one could.
I guess my point is through her prayer I saw miracles happen. If she were here now I would call her and ask her to pray especially hard for Aiden. She was a rare human being and an asset to a family in need of all the prayers we could get. So grandma if you’re out there could you please stay extra close to this precious baby. Let God know that he is loved and has brought so many people together (in a world that’s not always loving and kind). We are not asking a thing for ourselves, but for a family desperate to keep their little boy here with them. Let God know we are all praying harder than ever and we’re not giving up. Although life may be God’s gift alone…we aren’t ready to let go of this very special little boy.
God Bless All of You this Holiday Season
