I think I will do the Happy Turkey Dance today as we are celebrating Christmas early this evening with the family.
Its a little more cumbersome hauling around a 22 lb turkey with you, but what the heck - the thought is the same!

Lisa, I know how worried you are right now. I am the mother of two, and I am so protective of my children. I can’t imagine your pain and anguish at all your child must go through.
You mentioned that he is so weak, won’t open his eyes right now. I just want to share a little something with you about that. We shared Christmas eve with an elderly couple, one of whom had a stroke in 2002. A bad one. The medical team that worked with him said that sleep is a magical healer. The more sleep you give your body, the easier it can heal. We also know that pain is less while sleeping.
I am praying for your Aiden a period of painless, healing sleep. So that he can wake as a stronger little man, able to bear the procedures that are necessary to maintain his life.
My best to you and your family. You are so blessed to have this little angel in your life. His lessons to you are those of strength and fortitude. Thank him for all he is teaching, that wise little being.

Way to ring in the New Year baby Aiden! You make us so happy and proud with each baby step you take. Me and the SC girls are putting together a little “sumthin’” for ya! We will hopefully get it out in the mail the first of next week. You keep getting better little man. We would LOFF to be able to see you soon! Ya’ll figure out where the celebration will take place. Hey Lisa~ if ya want to do it at the Beach…I can get you guys a hotel room!

I’m HERE!!! Sorry to keep you all waiting, but there’s really not much news. I have been at the hospital since 11:30 this morning, and here is what I’ve got:
Aiden is being sedated. Sometimes he wakes up and fights the ventilator, gets upset, and all heck breaks loose - his blood oxygen level drops, heart rate jumps, breaths/minute crashes, etc. etc. Last night they had to bag him three times. It was very scary.
There is a lot of fluid coming back - mostly concentrated in his lower abdomen. Ultrasounds do NOT indicate bleeding or leaking, but doesn’t give any answer as to where the fluid is coming from. So, they are going to do a CT scan very soon (should be just about now). They were giving him some die through a GI drip when I was there, so that they can see where things are in the CT scan.
So, Aiden is very fragile right now, sedated, and having significant respiratory issues. All things considered, I think Lisa and Joey are doing VERY well. They are both positive and full of hope for what’s coming next. I think anxious is the best word for their collective mood right now. They don’t know what’s going on, what’s causing the fluid, why he fights so hard when he wakes up… they have just as many questions as all of us do.
More on a personal note in a later post - wanted to get you all info quick, and I’m going to change the title real quick, and do some “work” stuff, then back.

May He guide the surgeons as they bring Aiden through this safely and comfort the family that has lost their child. We can only hope that giving Aiden this gift of life will bring them comfort in what must be their darkest hour.
Your strength and the strength of the family of the lost child gives new meaning to the Christmas season. Both families are in our prayers and thoughts – all day, forget the Christmas shopping!!

Yippee!! That’s such great news!! Jingling like mad for continued good luck and a speedy rest of the recovery!! What is ‘the rest of the recovery’ now, anyway? It looks pretty good to me!!
