Just be aware that it’s part 1 of a series. You won’t know the end unless you buy the rest.[/QUOTE]

Thanks. I won’t be buying the rest because Part 1 is pretty bad, more for a 9-year-old.

Ah, thank you. I got it and will save it for a day that I can stand to read it. Sometimes that book makes me too sad.

A Heartwarming Holiday Novella by Award-Winning Author Bev Pettersen
A Pony For Christmas

Six-year-old Suzy Jenkins desperately wants a pony for Christmas. And she’s certain Santa will deliver. After all, she’s been on her best behavior for months–not tattling on the bullies and even sharing her only candy cane. Besides, this year she has everything ready, including a cracked water bucket and several wizened carrots.

Suzy’s mother struggles just to put food on the table. Life has been challenging since her husband died, and any pet—especially a pony—is impossible. However Suzy’s unflagging belief in the importance of being kind serves as a catalyst, sending ripples throughout her snowy Montana town and bringing love and happiness to more than just a big-hearted little girl.

Thanks. I got A Pony for Christmas and read it in one sitting on the train. It’s very sweet.

By the way, Amazon is running a deal where you can get the first month of Kindle Unlimited for free (normally $9.99 a month). There are a lot of horse books included… some good, some less so. But, if you feel like binge-reading, you could plow through quite a few titles for free and then cancel before they start billing you.

My conclusion after trying it was that I’d rather spend my $9.99 to buy the books directly, but I did enjoy my free month.

Someone on this thread introduced me to this serial last year -

http://www.amazon.com/Bittersweet-Farm-Mounted-Barbara-Morgenroth-ebook/dp/B00958643U/ref=sr_1_2?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1418478919&sr=1-2&keywords=bittersweet+farm

I have since read the rest of the series, and it just keeps getting better and better.

I now pre-order the next installment. The writing about horses, showing, horse life in general is now spot on, and I’ve come to care about the characters. It’s considered young adult fiction, and the protagonists are teens, but I appreciate it in a way I don’t most young adult fiction.

Not free, but at $2.99 an installment, very reasonable for a good read.

What is the name of the above book? The link doesn’t work for me.

Fixed the link, try now.

That worked thanks

I started a thread on this, but wanted to post the link here as well. I started a book club for us horsey folks on Facebook, so please feel free to join - we have over 100 members so far!

Free horse adventure book

“Stray” by Adrianne Diehl is free on Amazon through this weekend. I’ve read and reread that series, it’s a light, entertaining easy way to escape this awful weather! Totally worth looking into. It’s got great reviews.

I’m reading it right now and it’s actually pretty good!

Hannah Hooten has a trilogy and a separate book (not as good). No, they are not free, but I broke my own rule and paid for them.

Just search for her name on the Kindle Books page.

Also, the Alex and Alexander books. They are about breeding and flat racing, but are written by someone who knows that world.
