Amanda Moritz of Beeville, Texas (neglect case) - SHE MAY BE MOVING TO VA or to......

Attn: Anyone who has had dealings with Amanda Moritz of Bee Co. Texas Please feel free to forward this to any horse email lists, message boards, etc. We need to get the word out. In August 2003, Lone Star Equine Rescue (LSER) (of which I was President) removed 24 horses from Amanda Moritz in Beeville, Texas. We also found one dead horse on the property. In court, the judge awarded all twenty-four horses to LSER. Unfortunately another horse went down and was euthanized a day after we removed them and another one died two weeks later. Amanda Moritz, Kathy Moritz, and Nell Gilmore were charged with animal cruelty. In 2008, Amanda Moritz’s case finally went to court and she was put on probation. When the horses were removed, she claimed to be running a horse rescue and breeding facility. On November 21 of this year, we at Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society worked with the Bee County Sheriff’s office to remove another 10 horses from Amanda Moritz near Beeville, Texas. This time one horse was in such critical shape that he died a few days after being removed. In court on December 1, 2008, the judge awarded all surviving horses to BEHS. At this time, Amanda claims to be running a training and breeding business, MGM Performance horses, website http://mgmranch.tripod.com/. She also claims to be running Leap of Faith Equine Rescue and Sanctuary. The website is at http://horselofers.tripod.com/id4.html. In both cases, Amanda Moritz purchased horses on payments but according to the owners of those horses, she never paid for them or she wrote bad checks to owners of the horses. She also advertised at various times that she was running an equine rescue organization and requested donations/contributions. I have been in contact with two people who sold Amanda Moritz horses, and we are missing at least one horse that was sold to Amanda. Her rightful owner would like to find her, and she is offering a reward for her. The mare is a 1992 bay mare with a small, irregular vertical star, double diagonal cowlick at top of eye level, right is higher. Cowlick high at crest of neck on both sides; cowlick in jugular groove on right side. She also has a lip tattoo. She would have been obtained from Amanda Moritz sometime after March 2008. If anyone else sold or gave a horse(s) to Amanda Moritz, MGM Performance Horses, or Leap of Faith Equine Rescue & Sanctuary of Beeville or Skidmore, Texas in the past 1-2 years, please contact the BEHS at jenn@bluebonnetequine.org or (888) 542 5163. If you donated tack, horses, items or anything else to Amanda Moritz and were told her rescue was a 501c3 and/or that your donation would be tax-deductible, please contact us. Thank you, jenn.

(I added some white space for readability.)

Thanks for doing that - I don’t know why it didn’t post with the white space. I should have double-checked it!

Amanda Moritz has been formally charged (and arrested) with animal abuse/neglect.

HOWEVER - apparently her property is now listed for sale and she’s telling people she’s moving to VA. Where ever she moves, she is going to do again. We know of 5 horses she’s killed, and I found out from one person who sold her mares who were in foal that Amanda told her the 2-3 of the foals died, so that’s more deaths to lay on her head. Plus the four dogs we found who had died.

I’m just sick about this. I cannot stand to see more animals die.

Please tell me it is okay to dig up the baseball bats and come visit.

People like this make me so mad! and while you can turn them in and SOMETIMES they take the animals from them, it is somewhat satisfying but it still leaves you wanting them to suffer for what they have done… I want them to feel what these horses felt, a since of deperation. Solitary confinment would be nice, but I am sure we have a ways to go before the legal system catches up.

If I had to hazard a guess, somewhere in Southern VA near NC/VA Beach area or probably the rural Western part of VA. She wouldn’t come to Northern VA. Too expensive and everyone here would know about her fairly quickly, making it easy to keep an eye on her.

she is in new york

amanda mortiz is in new york. i know, she has screwed me over, and she is practicing her same game with the horses.

Where in NY? PM me if you are nervous about giving your location away, though it would help others in the state if you could give a better idea of where in the state she is.

Yes please, where in NY?

I am also located in NY and would like to know her current location.

Aye, NYS is so large…and upstate pretty poor. It would be so easy for her to get lost up there. UGH

Hope she is outed.

Was Amanda Moritz ever in Georgia? Her name sounds familiar.

I don’t remember her being in Georgia, but she has moved around a good bit. I had heard the rumors about NY, although I hadn’t been told a city yet.

sigh

Bolding mine.

I sure hope we are talking about different parts of the state. There are lots of places in NY that are not in NYC that are not poor.

I hope c1renegrade returns with a bit more information. Waiting to hear from you c1renegrade.
Thank you for the heads up.

How about…

NEWS ON AMANDA MORITZ

Amanda Moritz in located in Darien Center, NY she runs a “ranch” called Lil-Bits Ranch. She is starving her horses and is up to her old tactics of taking other peoples horses and tack and selling them as her own. Be aware of her! She still offers training and breeding. Stay away!

Just because upstate NY isn’t NYC doesn’t make us poor. We have all the resources, which does include the majority of the horse farms for the state…and everyone knows the horse business isn’t cheap

But anyway, we’ll keep our eyes posted for this lady! I can’t understand how people live with themselves doing things like this
