Meh, we already know you can kill a pony at a show and nothing will be done
I observed starving horses at a recent schooling show and was told my show management there’s nothing they can do unless the horse is in immediate distress.
Digesting one’s own liver doesn’t matter.
Right now they’re just staying close to home trying to fix everything up at the barn but somehow I think when they finally go to a show and are in the public eye it’s just not going to go the way they are thinking it will.
Maybe then they’ll realize not many are standing behind them.
They keep sanitizing the face book page. The rabid mommy supporters need to be bitch slapped. I’m happy to volunteer.

Sgt. Sean Ryan indicated to our attorney that the investigation yielded no finding of wrongdoing. We have not seen the final report because it has not been made public, so I cannot comment on it at this time. We appreciate the sheriff’s thorough investigation, and have tried to be as cooperative as possible. We have retained trainer Timothy Sweat, of FoxCroft Farm in Alpharetta, Ga., to provide training to our staff, and to ensure that our training and animal care practices meet the highest level of industry standards.

He’s a winner too;
TIM SWEAT of Milton, GA, violated Chapter 4, GR410 of this Federation, in connection with the Brownland Farm Fall I Horse Show held on September 4-8, 2013, in that he, as trainer, exhibited the horse ROOSEVELT after it had been administered and/or contained in its body flunixin in a plasma concentration exceeding the maximum permitted level. For this violation it was determined that TIM SWEAT be censured pursuant to Chapter 7, GR703.1a and fined $750 pursuant to Chapter 7, GR703.1j. It was further directed that for this violation of the rules, ABIGAIL DUBOSE of Alpharetta, GA, as owner, must return for redistribution all trophies, prizes, ribbons, and monies, if any, won by ROOSEVELT at said competition and must pay a $300 fee to the competition in connection with this penalty pursuant to Chapter 7, GR703.1g.
Or maybe that’s normal for H/J ?
Banamine. Could have been an honest mistake.
You have to wonder at the choice though… who is he, how did they find him to fill this need?
True.

God Bless him for wanting to get his name and farm’s name involved in this hot mess. Someone’s already taken the time to post his USEF violation on the Cumberland FB page.
I love how it’s “THE STAFF”. Is the staff all as bad as Kim? So, getting this straight, Kim has “worked” with that laundry list of top people, shouldn’t she know all this, already? But NOW, and with all due respect to Tim Sweat, she’s going to be shown the light by him in training horses? So, another barn’s professional is going to come in and teach your training professional how to train in a few short weeks? Gotcha.
Let’s be real - this is a PR move that people who don’t know will lap up and to save all those clients from leaving.
However, the rest of the horse industry will see right through it (no, really, Daniella. We all do).
Now, if that statement had read that Kim was no longer with the barn and Tim was stepping in as interim trainer while they look for a permanent, THAT’S a whole different ball of wax. But, then again, that would be taking responsibility for your bad hire and we can’t have THAT apparently.
That must be a full time job, scrubbing the Facebook comments as soon as they appear. Did anyone else notice that in the course of this hullabaloo they’ve GAINED 70+likes?
A common theme that keeps coming up is that people are “scared” of the BO and the trainer. Very few people feel comfortable speaking out against them, although many have indicated that they have had bad experiences or witnessed inappropriate treatment of animals. Everyone is just so terrified about what will happen if the BO and trainer find out that they disapprove or spoke out.
In my personal experience with the BO, she can be a bully, but generally she’s just blowing smoke.
I have never met Kim Smith, so I have no idea how she conducts herself with people. If it’s anything like how she conducts herself around school horses, I suppose I’d want no part of her.
Maybe I’m being foolish for being so candid about my experience. But if people want to break the cycle, they’re going to take their money elsewhere and speak out against the trainer and the barn.
Just curious. Is there a limited options for folks to take lessons around Hendersonville, TN? Why would folks be afraid to speak up, or move? I mean, I will tolerate an a$$, as as they are the smart and knowledgeable kind. Why would anyone tolerate an idiotic one?

Very limited options. Hendersonville is located north of Nashville-- the opposite side of the city and a good hour drive (or more in traffic) to the “horse country” of middle Tennessee.
The city itself is very suburban and the immediate area is being developed fast. But the surrounding areas are quite rural with low land values. There are just a handful of “english” discipline barns around that offer lessons or boarding. Everything else is mostly western or backyard horses, and by backyard, I mean horses neglected on the back 40.
I also am a little bit confused by the level of fear people seem to have. For folks with their own horse businesses, I can understand not wanting your name associated with this mess. But I’m not sure why the current and former students are so scared.
I keep hoping we’ll hear that Cowboy packed a backpack and ran away from home…
When the investigator said that “the investigation yielded no finding of wrongdoing” the wording was unfortunate. If I had been the investigator it would have said “the investigation yielded no finding of criminal behavior.” The wrongdoing was manifest.
The video clearly demonstrates massive ineptitude. To say so would not, IMO, be an untrue statement. It does not demonstrate a statutory violation. To say otherwise is to walk on dangerous ground. Let the matter speak for itself; commentary is really unnecessary.

Maybe local politics but I’m sure someone in that big green barn in franklin is wanting this mess to go away quickly before someone remembers that pretty face around the barn.

Okay, you can’t just pop on here and tease us with something like this. Any links to news articles pertaining to what you are referencing?
I’m not sure who she’s referring to, but I know Kim was kicked out of Green Pastures back in either 2007 or 2008. I don’t know what the circumstances were, but I don’t think they were newsworthy.
