Another New Horse - It's Bo!

 He can join the Maestro’s Bathrobe Army!

I’m dying laughing at that description.

Ok, I am not as coordinated or steady-handed as @Heinz_57, but here is part of this morning’s walk on my horse. Not trying to steal Bo’s jam, just Bo inspired and sending a nod back

I love it!

Bo back in his old digs today while we mow the other area. He was not 100% happy about the switch, change seems to upset him a little. I’d have put Elmo with him, but Elmo is too fat for that much grazing.

Daaaaaang! Lookin’ good, Bo!!!

(Even if you’re not completely happy in your temporary digs.)

Never thought I’d say (or even think) this, but Bo ain’t too far behind Elmo there!

I know it’s Monday and all, I haven’t done a full set of pics. Might have time later. But he looks basically the same. He might have dropped a pound or two as we’re working on the forage-centered diet transition, but he’s generally eating and holding weight pretty well (as seen in yesterday’s photo LOL).

Demanding LUNCH NOW, FOOD LADY - quit taking pictures before I WITHER AWAY:

We hope to get a ride or two in this week. I am a bit in the weeds with four horses to exercise now, and I need to sit down and figure out a proper schedule of some sort!

You did a Double Entendre!
Don’t kill yourself over doing 4.
Ride 1, maybe 2 for 2 days. Take a day off. Repeat.
None of you are training for the Olympics or Tevis.
It needs to be FUN

nothing to do with anything but @2DogsFarm just reminded me of this sublime Stephen Sondheim lyric triplet

We’ve no time to sit and dither
While her withers wither with her.

 it is fun, they are all fun and different, and that’s my problem. I could spend all day riding! It’s all the other adulty things I have to do that get in the way. I can ride 2 a day no problem, 3 if the weather isn’t boiling hot by then… but it often is. With school getting out for the summer this week, I will have more leeway to start earlier and I should be able to get more rides in.

I realized over the weekend that I’ve been kind of neglecting the young man - Fern - lately, so I promised him I would start incorporating him more. He is so much more relaxed when in a ‘program’. Maybe he can have Bo’s days off. And frequently, everybody gets the weekends off - I end up helping DH with some project or other, if I do get on a horse it’s usually to putz around the yard and supervise, bareback.

I just have to share this one for a second - little Fern on Saturday (he might be 14h on his tippy toes now!):

You may include some ponying from one horse while leading another as part of being able to work some days two at the same time.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Bo has ponying experience. I’m presuming he has a Western background, and it’s just so much more common there.

I always wondered how my mare would have been as a pony horse… She has a big personal space bubble, but if you give her a job, all her quirks go out the window - she is all business, and she’s gonna do the best damn job possible. And she loves young horses.

I’ve had that idea in my head for a while, but I’m not sure there is a lead horse candidate in this herd. Bo would be the obvious first choice since he’s near one hand broke, but he’s so passive that I’m not sure he could stand up to any shenanigans.

Aww, Fern can come visit me anytime, I have a fondness for ponies of that size :star_struck: He reminds me a bit of one of my favorites.

You might be surprised.

The brand looks great too!

(If you ever need to rehome a Fern, I gets dibs!)

You might have to fight cayuse for him :joy: He has the prettiest light brown eyes (this is closer to his true coat color, when the sky is cloudy my phone can’t figure out how to handle the flaxen!):

If he doesn’t grow substantially more, he may end up a bit small overall for me. But he’s still got a couple years to proof, he’s not even 3 until the fall-ish. :woman_shrugging: these nondescript youngsters are always a mystery box! It’s part of the fun! Elmo was also a narrow, shrimpy little guy when I got him :joy:
