Anybody know their TB's racing name?

Argggg! I just try to access the equineline.com and it won’t work. I typed in all the info about 10 times and it still never recognizes me! Invalid logon ID/password but it is asking for last name & phone number. Any ideas?

My guy raced under the name “Running Footman”. He was a track kid for about 4 years, racing at Hoosier, Indiana Downs, and somewhere in Florida. Poor kid bled a lot toward the end of his career - when I bought him he had a haybag in his stall - found out about a year later after fighting with horrible respitory infections that he has a swallowing deficiency that won’t allow him to eat hay! No wonder he wouldn’t go fast enough to win!

Now he’s my perfect boy… is really laid back now and likes to take about 5 hours to do a stadium course - I think his true calling may have been as a hunter, but he does love him some cross-country.

“Spot the Power”… which I decided against eventing under, though part of his record was acquired with other riders under that name; he now goes by “Strange Attractor” (it’s a math thing).

Makes for interesting conversation, as he has no (visible) spots, at least none that one would call a horse Spot after seeing. He does have spotted skin, which is interesting.

He raced at Charles Town.

Sprite raced as Singing Native (Mill Native x Singing Gypsy - The Minstrel). Bred in CA, raced at Santa Anita 3 times as a 3 y/o. and was retired. LOL. Sloooow pony. I think she had a fourth and 2 fifths in those 3 starts. She has VERY clean legs

My old horse Buffett raced as Rossi Star (Paristo x Pink Supreme) and started 30-odd times racing from 2-4. One win, a bunch of placings. Useful but nothing to write home about. He was an IL- bred and raced primarily at Chicago tracks IIRC.

Sofie’s JC registered name is So Fine (Turkey Shoot x So Funny). Turkey Shoot was by Seattle Slew and So Funny had Raise A Native lines. She raced until she was a five year old. I think she raced pretty exclusively at Philadelphia Park. At this point, I’ve owned her longer than her breeder or her racing owners (they bought her as a yearling). She’s 13 this year.

Basque Fantasse (1990) by Bounding Basque x Biggest Fan. Bred in Kentucky, raced out
West but not as far as the West Coast. Ran for 5 years–bought him from a track vet in
Denver. Grandson of Grey Dawn. Wonderful work ethic and steady as a rock, loves trail
work.

Arc Tangent (1994) by Key to the Arc and can’t remember dam’s name. Colorado bred.
Raced once, came in last, didn’t care. Lots of Bold Ruler crossing in pedigree.

I’ve had a few (and knew their race records etc.) and known many more. Here are the ones that I owned

Razzle Dazzle Rose
Dark Plumb
Good Gams
Touch’A Class

Touch’A Class was the only one with any sort of success on the track (turf) he was by Skywalker. He was a very cool boy who I had to put down way too young.

The mare from h*LL was Slewpys War by War out of Slewpy’s gold. (she was a beauty, but not for me)… My current lad is Wild Harted Prince… By Wild Escapade out of Ice Princess. I think his name is funny - cause he is so laid back. He never raced, but trained (and I guess was a dropout).

I have only owned 1 OTTB that I didn’t know his real name… never investigated, didn’t care to learn what JC name went with the tattoo… renamed him anyhow.

Own/have owned:

-Choo Choo Me Home (1997)
-The Big Macaw (2000)
-Mercer’s Secret (2003)

And I changed all their names.

Hello all, brand new here, but a long time lurker.
I know that a bunch of you will immediately recognize me!

I event my guy under his JC name: Taylor’s Cede

He’s a '93 by Taylor’s Special. I don’t recal his dam’s name off hand. Raced 4 times, won a grand total of $400 before they gave up on that! He likes eventing a lot more.

My guy Dark Plum was also by Taylor’s Special (I evented him through Prelim under the name Keahi…and he had the scope to go much much further)…he then went on to be a jumper. Was an incrediable jumper. Also only raced a couple of times (broke his madien and that was it). I know of a couple of others by Taylor’s Special…all failures at the track but VERY nice event horses. I met someone who knew Taylor’s Special and said he was the nicest and easiest to handle stud at the farm…somewhere along the lines though he fell on hard times. It looks like he was rescued after being abandoned in a padock out west I believe. It was a shame because he would have been a very good sport horse sire.

Have fun with your boy!

My girl’s JC/Racing name is Gypsy Kate (2002). She raced twice and came in last, then came to me. My old boy from way back when was Iron Butterfly (1964). Lifetime winnings, $50, and became a field hunter before I got him.

Thats really cool that he’s got lots of relatives that have been eventers! He does have a really great, big bascule jump. And great movement too when we’re not tense! Everyone says he can definitely do a 1*. He goes around Training right now like its nothing. I just need to improve my riding enough to move up!
I saw an article in the last year or so that Taylor’s Special had passed. I don’t recal it mentioning a rescue but I don’t remember much from the article. I do remember seeing a similarity in his looks to my guy. A very refined, attractive face.
Do you know of any others eventing now, or have they all retired that you know of?

The only other one that I know is a mama right now (had a beautiful filly last year). I didn’t keep track of the other ones names…But meet two of them at events over the years. I’m sure that there are a few…most of the ones that I knew were all rejects from Charles Town race track in WV. My guy was never very good in dressage (probably me more then him) but could trot 4’9" easily. We would jump around Prelim like it was BN (he moved up to prelim in one season). He was a very cool horse. I don’t have any online photos of him but he was and the couple that I saw were all classic TBs…very attractive. Mine was all legs (16.3) and narrow…we would joke that when he turned sideways he disappeared. But he had a very pretty neck and head and supposedly looked a lot like the sire as well.

Forgot one!

I just realized that I forgot to mention a horse that I got from Penn National. His name was Forging and was bred by Bonita Farm. He was featured on that series that animal planet was showing about Bonita Farm. At anyrate he was their “Derby and Preakness” hope but didn’t make it. I bought him and he evented novice and training under the name Hooah and then was sold on to a beginner man’s trail horse.
Amy

my two current-neither are “eventers” yet but my projects:

Fontange(2002)-(Louis Quatorze x Allens Slew) MD Bred. Raced 8 times, won once and that’s about it. Just got her about 2 months ago and we are off to our second dressage show this weekend! Super sweet but can have her tb/mare moments:)

Football Rusher(2001)-(Wild Rush x Jovan’s Lady) FL Bred. I don’t know much about his race life…need to look it up still. It looks like he won a few times and had been moved around alot. Have had him a little over a year and due to his accident prone ways have not done much with him…but still a very sweet and cute guy.

Dr Hoo

I owned a 16.1 TB that raced successfully around 1998-2002. His registered name was Dr Hoo and he was black with a white star and front white coronet band. He raced in Hialeah mostly.

My not-really-an-eventer (he’d much rather lope around 8 pretty fences, please) is Best to be Elusive (Elusive Quality x Bestofbothaccounts - by Private Account).

He raced six times, made $6700 or something ridiculous like that, and was donated to CANTER Mid Atlantic as a 3 year old colt. FairWeather IMed me and told me that he wanted to go home with me - so I went and picked him up the first weekend of Dec 2004.

He’s been a slow’n’steady guy ever since I’ve known him. And he’s ridiculously cute. That’s our niche - cute and slow.

My tb raced under the name Intentation (huh?) and raced about 18 times mostly if not entirely in Florida- won once and never placed again. He is by Danzig Connection and out of Kristy’s Cup. The pic I have of him winning his one race cracks me up- my big goofy dope looking like a real racehorse- just doesn’t fit.

I have a gem of a TB

I have an 18 year old TB named Lovers Canyon. This gelding raced for 4 years, mainly at Kentucky tracks. He was a very polite racehorse, he let everyone finish ahead of him. I guess he wanted to make sure every other horse crossed the finish line without getting lost.

He did win one race, the horse ahead of him was disqualified.

When I bought him 2 years ago, the vet who did the prepurchase exam said he had wonderful legs for a 17 year old former race horse and second career eventer!

His only claim to famous racehorses is that his bloodlines go back to Nashua, who won the Preakness and Belmont in 1955, I think. I thought it was cool that Barbaro had Nashua in his bloodlines too.

Lover is a wonderful horse, teaching me the ropes of eventing, even if it is at the starter level. He’s very kind, I was lucky to get him.
