Anybody know their TB's racing name?
The only other one that I know is a mama right now (had a beautiful filly last year). I didn’t keep track of the other ones names…But meet two of them at events over the years. I’m sure that there are a few…most of the ones that I knew were all rejects from Charles Town race track in WV. My guy was never very good in dressage (probably me more then him) but could trot 4’9" easily. We would jump around Prelim like it was BN (he moved up to prelim in one season). He was a very cool horse. I don’t have any online photos of him but he was and the couple that I saw were all classic TBs…very attractive. Mine was all legs (16.3) and narrow…we would joke that when he turned sideways he disappeared. But he had a very pretty neck and head and supposedly looked a lot like the sire as well.
Well, mine is 16.3. But definitely NOT narrow! He does have the movement for dressage, but I don’t think we’ve ever gotten above a 5 on submission…
I always makes him happy to jump though. I don’t think he’d be happy in any other discipline than eventing. Too much waiting in H/J and not enough excitement in dressage for him!

I think he was born in MD and raced in KY or vice versa, I don’t recall which.

I have a few pics online from earlier this summer that I’ll dig up for you.

Here are mine in order:

International Rose - Raced in Washington, then was a polo pony in Bend, OR before switching to jumpers
Bootlegger Al - Raced until he was 8yo in Montana
Tan Straight - unraced
Double Alarm - Canadian bred and looks like it too, I never knew they where stockier until I got him
Prudent Prospect - Mr Prospector grandbaby, raced until 5yo in Nebraska
Lolo Cat - ???

Dummy.

Yes, that was his registered name. He raced a few times at Finger Lakes 2003/2004.

I think he was embarrased to race and hear the track announcer saying that Dummy was in front!

A Few I can think of from childhood to now! The list would be too long and not sure I can remember them all

I’m looking at an OTTB (vetting on Friday!) and his name is Private Pleasure. That sounds a bit dirty to me, so I might be changing it if I get him. He came from a place in WV called Mountaneer.

J Egger Hoofer (1996) NY
Novel Reason (1991) Kentucky - she raced for 8 years, so maybe someone remembers her???
Pandora Petit (2001) Florida

My daughter’s horse’s race name was Fire Steed.

Wozencraft out of Demons Begone

let’s just say the demons are not gone!

I know a daughter and son of Believe the Queen. Both were AMAZING jumpers. Believe the Name is now a foxhunter (don’t know where). He tried racing and 'chasing, but wasn’t very successful, and was owned by on of the master’s of LHW. The other was Classical Queen. She was HUGE and black, and amazing. I evented her, she got really good and was a jumping machine. She was sent back to her breeder/owner and now she’s a broodmare. Such a waste of a good mare. I always ask her owner if I can have her back!

As for one’s I’ve owned/ridden/trained (more posted on the racing thread)-

My Market Watch, by Marquetry out of a Raise a Cup mare. He’s not an eventer, though–it might mess up his hair.

I have had three different OTTBs. First was Eating Out (83), Groovy Sarah (92) and Brothertotheblues (90). I am pretty sure that Groovy Sarah is from KY and that Eating Out is from FL if I remember correctly but my memory could be poor. Brothertotheblues won over $250,000 during his years on the track.

Current OTTB:

Freedom onthe Wind - 29 Starts: 3 - 2 - 1, $70,010

Previous:

Gallery Gal - I think she had 56 starts and won a grand total of about $28K.

I know almost everything about my guy!

Jay’s race name was “Check by Check” he was born at Heritage Farm in KY and was nominated for the Breeders Cup (i have his certificate). He had 33 starts but only 3 wins :frowning:

I even got to see videos of him racing in deep mud which is one of the reasons i think he’s so good on his feet.

My lease horse is named Naswar but he never actually raced. He’s out of Unbridled’s Song and since my trainer galloped him at the farm he was at in training she knows a lot about his history… all his quirks etc. I’m glad she bought him before he raced because he’s becoming an amazing sport horse!

Aye’s Turn anyone?

My sweet little 7 yr old TB is by Storm Center out of Aye Dream. He raced in WV until I believe about 4. His name was “Aye a Hot Shot”. Definitely didn’t keep that one. I don’t think he ever really had a break after the track and it’s taken us a while to get things going- ok really quite a while, but things are good and we’re back on our way to BN (after a slight confidence detour to Tadpole). His personality is priceless and he’ll be my little guy forever.

I have two that are registered;

Agree with me by Magic Prospect, out of Makalei (Clever Trick) a 2002 mare, my eventer. She went to the track twice to train, once as a 2 year old and then as a 3 year old, she never made it to a race!

Hooper’s Battle by Battle Creek, out of Hopper’s Girl (Grand Allegiance) a 1999 mare, my project horse from last year than was, whoops, pregnant!

The resulting foal will be registed with the PHR and she is by Esteem, so actually a full tb!

I love looking into TB pedigree’s. It is great fun, I wish more upper level eventer also had their TB’s registered names available to research…

 1. WatchoutforTrouble - raced at Monmouth and Mountaineer ( quite a few wins as a 2/3 yr old
 2. Confederate Gal - raced in Louisiana and Florida
 3. FlashandThunder - Rockingham, Monmouth ( a number of wins as 3/4 yr old. Has Northern Dancer bloodlines…is the spittin’ image of him.
 4. Todd’s Bay - tatooed but never raced.

I’ve ridden or taken off the track as foster horses the following:

Add One Slew by One More Slew
Puntilla by Puntivo
Raw Bar Monster by Meadow Monster
Mailroomtoboardroom by Zafarrancho

I researched them all to death while I had them.

I have a boarder right now who is the coolest horse. He is 21 – you can still read his tattoo. I’d love to learn his history but am too cheap to send in to the JC for just curiosity’s sake!

Mr. Digger, cute, huh??

Sonnet’s Chant (out of Sonnet’s Charm, by T.K. Chance). So not too original!! But she was born in Manitoba, CAN, I have her race record but am not sure what track it is from??
She is STOCKY, looks like a QH or mini WB. And, a conformation hunter when standing still… just not once she goes
