Anybody know their TB's racing name?

My heart horse as a kid was a beautiful bay OTTB named Lorena Melissa. She was the most saintly, amazing, talented horse I’ve ever had the privledge of riding. We lost her when she was 12.

Here’s her pedigree if your interested. I don’t know much about pedigree’s but I do recognize a few names from brousing the forums. Looks like she even had Man O’ War in her way back.

She was a 1979 model. Don’t know how far back you were looking for…

Got our first one almost a year ago…
His name is “Kenny Run”. Got him off Finger Lakes track at age 9 on 10/25 of last year, Had 64 starts. 8 wins, 14 second placings, 11 third placings earning $151,000
His sire is El Prado ( From Ireland ), Dam is Regal Gentry and born in KY.
Raced in many many places.

Perch is Exclusively Proud - bred and raced in Florida.

Kipper is Ihaveseenthelight - bred in California and raced there and in West Virginia.

And Loki is Bea Careless - bred and raced in Michigan.

Gypsy Kate, 2002 Bay Mare

My girl is Gypsy Kate, with 7 starts at Laurel and Charlestown, WV. Never placed above 4th.

Sire: Yankee Victor ($833,806)
Dam: Pretty Kate ($166,988)

Both were successful racehorses (dam had 60 starts, so she was at least sturdy!)

My first Ottb’s racing name was Rita’s Rico, didn’t do well racing, was a lot of fun riding and jumping. She died prematurely when she was 6 yo, her pasture mate kicked and broke her leg just when we were about to start competing. ;(

The second and current one is Your So Charming, tried hard on the racetrack, won some, didn’t like the Boston dirt

And at one point I also had a cute mare called Bucks Lullaby, but having 2 horses was too much and I gave her away to a friend. She’s the best looking of the 3, and probably has the best pedigree of the 3…oh well.

I’ve had 2 that raced, the rest only trained. My first horse when I was almost 7 was raced under Royal Amerigo-he raced in PA and then came down to GA where we bought him off my coach at the time. He was wonderful in the ring but everytime we went out to hack he’d bolt and gallop back after we turned for home.
The horse I have now raced at Hastings (BC) and won a few races until an injury. He raced under Lego Man. After 5 mths of rehab I’ve now had him u/s for about 5 mths and he’s coming along (2 mths of ground driving and some lunging before u/s slow work.) He’s out of Finality (NY bred, standing in BC.)
The other ones I had, trained but never raced:
Frankie’s Promise (she had a freak paddock accident just after she turned 4 :frowning: I miss her a lot as she had so much potential!!!)
Intuitively She is in retirement after she was sold and sustained an injury :frowning:
Twisterfare (I bought him in the fall of 06’- he pretty much lived up to his JC name…I renamed him Rum Cay  …sadly he passed away last March from another freak paddock accident…I miss him a lot too!!!) I luckily have 2 awesome horses to keep me going and motivated again!!

Gotta love OTTB!!!
I’ve had a few TB x’s that have good TB lines too…off the topic I know lol
The mare I have right now, reg HS Wish Upon a Star, out of a JC mare that raced once-Cybr Princess (has In Reality, Man O’War,Gallant Man)
Perseverance-Han/TB…her TB side Southerly out of Our Native (unraced mare)
Doc’s Lucky Feather-TB side (unraced) Roman Feathers (back to Roman line)

C.B.'s Copy

C. B’s Copy was his name and he was bred by a man in Oklahoma, with whom I had a long conversation and we kept in touch until he died. His sire was Uncopyable.

He’s 23 now and we loff him.

I’ve had 2–Autumn’s Dream (by Louis Quatorze) raced at Philly Park, made around 40k, wish I had more pictures of him because he really was a gorgeous animal and a lovely mover. I had him for a few months and ended up putting him down due to a bad impaction. :frowning:
Pedigree http://www.pedigreequery.com/autumns+dream

Bobby D (pic in sig line) is the current one. He’s be De Niro (pedigree here http://www.pedigreequery.com/bobby+d2). Raced at Delaware Park and Tampa Bay Downs, made a little over 20k.

I’m too lazy to change their JC name unless it’s really horrendous, so Bobby will be shown as Bobby D. Although after one of the boarders printed out his race report I gave some serious thought to showing him under “Failed to Menace.” It says that about a lot of his races, and it suits his goobery personality

My 22 year old gelding (free) Louie is registered as Legal Moves and his pedigree is here:
http://www.pedigreequery.com/legal+moves

6 generations back is Man 'o War! Funny as my horse has to be the laziest thoroughbred on the planet!

My boy Mojo’s JC name is Mon Ogon (?). He started racing at Churchill Downs and ended up at Mountaineer, raced 19 times and won once. I have his awesome win photo! The horses behind him are covered with mud, and he is clean, so he must have been ahead the whole time :).

My horse was Defcon One . The movie " War Games " was out and popular when he was named. He is a 1984 model and showed hunters and eq. for over 20 yrs. Still safe and sound living at our farm.

Koda’s race name is Double Grit.

Kobie’s JC name was Acrobat, but he didn’t race.

While this thread is a few years old, it seems nobody minds it being dragged up. So I may as well add …
my quirky TB mare’s JC name is M J Point

Well most of these gyuys are long sold into new eventing/show/hunting careers

I used to have “Gold Rolls” (1986) by Caveat out of a mare named Fair Hostess. Caveat won the Belmont in 1983, but was (I was told) infamously bad tempered. Fortunately his son, who we called Pretzel, was not.

I am currently blessed with the company of “Quick to Fight” - who isn’t! He’s by Fit to Fight and out of Sarhonda. He raced over 50 times and won about 5 of them. His second career as a low level show jumper/jack of all trades seems to be suiting him much better.

I love looking up their pedigrees and records, it’s part of the OTTB fun!

ok this is fun. i have 4 ottbs’

  1. diamond bob aka riley 2004 model out of diamond, chestnut gelding

  2. mc cuddy aka slater 2007 model out of marciano, grey gelding

  3. slicky slick aka sable 2008 model out of stanislavsky, bay mare never raced

  4. sugarland star 2006 out of i believe french deputy…bay mare

they are my favorite breed. i love their energy and their heart.

first three are eventing and sugar is my latest. she is adjusting well to life as a spoiled future eventer.

sugar is my latest. she is adjusting well to life as a spoiled future eventer.

Wonder why that is

Rare T. Bone

hmm… judy, I have to go back in my emails/voicemails, but I got an inquiry about Artax Returns recently (by recently I mean earlier this year, from an early connection of some sort iirc), someone trying to figure out where he ended up.

If I can find it mind if I pass it on to you?

eta… nevermind, it was artax collector, totally different horse! heh

My gelding, Catch Budda (2005) (Buddha x Catch Arising Star–On to Glory) was race trained, I think out in Illinois somewhere but not for very long because he was sent to a high-goal polo player after that and I got him as a long two year old. His show name is Big Bird and we do dressage. You’d think they could have come up with a better name than Catch Buddha.

Ditto for the mare I’m half-leasing, Radiant Wisdom (2005) (Whiskey Wisdom x Always Be Sunny–Iskandar Elakbar. She’s from Ontario. I love her dam’s name. She’s the fieldmaster’s horse in her other life and the biggest sweetheart I’ve ever had the privilege of riding.

My old mare, Andrea’s Friend (1984-2011) (Stone Manor X Paul A Dear–Reverse) was at Woodbine as a two year old and managed a couple of thirds in about 10 races.

Obviously, I love a good TB above all else.
