anyone ever order from Farm House Tack?

I live local and shop there a lot and know the staff pretty well and have always been delighted with the service there…
working in retail and shipping across the country, I can tell you from experience that refunds on big ticket items do take longer to get refunded. The cc companies have security measures in place b/c of credit card fraud. I know in my store, even if I refund something - it seems to take the person who purchased it DAYS to see it back on there card. - I dont understand that at all.
If i give someone money back, they should see it no later than midnight after I’ve refunded. - not 5 days later… – someones skimming interest $ deep in the corporate abyss of visa/mc/amex - IMO…

I’m very friendly with some of the sales staff ( take lessons w/ there CS manager) I will print this off and show it to her, I’m sure she will be appalled
at the email communication complaints and will make some changes. Perhaps I’ll suggest to her that with online orders they should use the phone for communication and not email. IDK about you guys but i have a yahoo email that I use specifically for online purchases and i NEVER check it. so if they were trying to contact me there I’d never get it.

Does anyone else do that? or am i just a spaz about getting spam? None the less I LOVE them. seriously worth the trip if you ever come down i85 for any reason. – there just 20 min from 85 up I26 w.
I call it the Macys of riding attire and training equipment! My husband calls it my strange addiction!

The Farm House is awesome! Incredible customer service, fantastic selection of products and very fast shipping!! I have had really great experiences at their store in Tryon, at their mobile stores at the shows and online.

I live locally to the Farm House and know the owners personally (they’re my neighbors :D) but i love shopping up there and everyone there is always so nice and extremely helpful!

Farm House is great. Love the owner; she is such a sweetheart. The employees are great too. You’ll get a great product in very little time.

Love the Farmhouse! Peter and Sarah are fantastic on the road. They have access to just about anything you would need and are wonderful to work with. Main store is great, as well.

dredging up an old thread but this is relevant - i have never been to a tack store or ordered online from some place like dover or smarkpak and had them advertise an item of apparel as something other than the size listed by the manufacturer. am i to understand that the Farm House knowingly markets their hunt coats as sizes other than what the manufacturer lists/tags them as? why would a store/company do that?

For ease of inventory, the old lightweight wool show coats (which have been on clearance sale for years now) were converted to the Grand Prix sizing (because Grand Prix was, and still is, the largest inventory). So… an RJ coat sized 4 is marked “GP 10” because the measurements for chest and waist line up. Many of the tags have both sizes still marked.

We’ve had the occasional mishap since they’ve been selling through FaceBook when a customer has asked for a size 10 with RJ in mind (but not specifically requested), and the sales person doesn’t think to ask for measurements to clarify and pulls a size 10 GP. Since a size 10 RJ would actually be a GP 16, it’s obviously not going to fit right when it arrives. In those cases, the customer is almost always happy to simply return the coat for exchange. If we can’t find a suitable replacement, we give a refund (even though all sales items are sold with “return for exhange or store credit only” policy in place. We want peeps to be satisfied.

If you got a coat that’s the wrong size, please just call the store tomorrow and let us know. 864-457-3557

I actually really, REALLY appreciate that the farmhouse does this. Especially with the prevalence of all the European sizing these days, it’s nice to know what will fit like a “GP 10.” Cannot beat the Farmhouse. I have been one of their extremely loyal customers (they recognize my phone number!) for years!

Buyer beware on their impression of sizing. From my personal experience, they completely misrepresented sizing increments on Grand Prix coats. I paid a pretty penny in expedited shipping and the thing hung off me like a tent!

Watch out with the 30 day return policy. They don’t budge and don’t always include paperwork of any variety in the package, so know you have 30 days or you’re out of luck.

I had emails indicating they misrepresented the coat and still had to go through my credit card company to get a refund.

Sorry your coat didn’t fit! Was it a lightweight wool sale coat?

Also sorry you had to wait for a refund. We try hard to keep them timely, but occasionally there is a delay in processing.

In any case, our return policy is pretty simple: Return new merchandise unworn/unused within 7 days for a full refund. After 7 days, for new items we offer store credit only. Sale items are returnable for exchange or store credit only.

Have never had a problem with their return policy … And I am must have returned 4 or 5 turnouts this season for my hard to fit wb!

No. About $450 for a Grand Prix soft shell coat (classic hunter?). I wanted one size up from a Quinn. The salesperson strongly suggested (pushed) 2 sizes up in another model. And what I got seemed like 6 or so sizes up, it was huge, like a tent. The coat is cut much, much larger than a Quinn so a couple sizes up was just massive. The fit was so misrepresented.

7 day returns might be simple. But I don’t consider it reasonable or competitive because some of us quite literally cannot get to the post office except for a few hour window on Saturday due to work schedules.

And I wasn’t at all happy that no paperwork was included in the packaging (it was from the mobile truck?), so I sailed past a return window I wasn’t aware of. Thankfully Visa took care of me, because Farm House Tack dropped the ball.

AKO, I’m sorry you weren’t satisfied with the service you received. We always try to provide excellent customer service and genuinely hate it when we fail.

I was able to retrieve your records based on the information you’ve provided above. The over-nighted coat was originally purchased August 15, 2013, and returned to us October 4, 2013. In keeping with our return policy, we offered you a store credit, which you declined. At this point, customer service could have done a better job by understanding the circumstances and processing a refund. We’re all aware of what happened now and will go forward with a renewed effort to keep our customers happy.

I hate seeing Farmhouse dissed like this. I have always had wonderful service, great products, great prices.

I USED to be a loyal Farm House Fan. After having quite few problems with returns, getting credit back on my credit card and having my credit card charged for something that took months to be delivered…I am no longer a fan. Sorry. I will not shop there anymore.

And a friend of mine had the same problem, so it is just not me.

Something has happened in the last couple of years. They are hanging onto every buck they take in and forgoing the great service they used to offer.

Sorry, no recommendations here!

I just got a gorgeous Elite hunt coat (originally $310) on sale for $50. Melissa helped me specifically. It was even prettier in person and I am glad I took her recommendation because it is exactly what I was looking for. I told her I was a RJ size 4-6 or GP size 12 and this is an almost perfect fit. I am going to probably move the buttons 1/4" in the summer but it is great for now to wear under armour underneath while it is still cold.

I bought another coat from Farmhouse maybe two years ago and it wasn’t a perfect fit but for the price I paid I simply resold it on Facebook and made a couple bucks.

I have a pair of Ariat Jean breeches on their way to me 50% off and will simply just resell them online if they don’t work… at prices like that I usually get back what I paid or have friends that envy my purchases so works well for me!

Every time I have called into Farm House Tack I’ve gotten excellent customer service! Super helpful - it’s great that they actually pull the item you’re inquiring about when they’re discussing it with you on the phone. Fast shipping as well. I’d recommend them to anyone!

Seven day returns might be difficult for some but you kept the coat for six weeks before returning it. Even without paperwork that is beyond what many store policies allow which in my experience is anywhere between one week and 30 days so I think you should accept some responsibility.

I haven’t been been riding for the last few years but when I was I bought frequently from Farmhouse by mail and their customer service was always excellent. Their staff was exceptional, even taking pictures with rheir phones of items I was considering as gifts. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

I’m not arguing that I was past the return window. But let me point out that it was not appropriate for Farm House Tack to divulge details of my order. The reason for my tardiness was between Farm House, Visa, and myself. But since you suggested it was inappropriate, let me point out that I took so long because I thought perhaps I could get it tailored to fit. But it would have to be heavily redone.

Short return windows (7 days, even 30 days) just don’t work for me. Again, a few hours on Saturday. Shipping say mid-week, no time one Saturday, maybe forget another and it’s easy to blow by 30 days. 7? Not a chance.

So I will buy local or go with a competitor. You can likewise shop wherever you like.

Wow!!! Seriously! You come on a public board to bash their return policy, then are miffed when they “divulge” details of your return?? (And by details, I mean, simply the dates your ordered and subsequently returned). What a joke.
