Yep, I’m paid up and watching some of the other replays, but thanks! I’ve been known to miss the fairly obvious before.

Yeah, it’s a thin line with them, almost as much with TBs - how fit can you get before you start taking away rideability?

MJ riding those types seems to have it down to a science.

I think in the course walk interview with lucinda he said he was looking for a 40% completion rate. I’ll have to double check.

Tamie did a fabulous ride with Mai Baum.
Always so many doubters and haters.
They are a class act and have also shown the world who should have been competing in Tokyo.
People (not you) it’s always one thing or another. Last year, “the horse is too careful”
This year “she rode too conservative”
It’s always something she’s too fast she’s too slow, the horse is this, the horse is that.
She is the top placed US rider after dressage and cross country. I am happy to see it, she had a brilliant ride and deserves credit for her accomplishment not constant nit picking and criticism. Ok, I’m off my soap box now.
Double clear show jump. Top 10 finish. Go Tamie.

I think after Dom’s slow xc yesterday, he had even more horse then he is used to on Day 3  they normally go clear, and I think Dom rode as masterfully as he could, and Boly looked fantastic, but so strong.

Corvette looked great, and her turnout was gorgeous!

Mike Winter, riding for Canada, definitely has a great horse for the future in El Mundo.

Lovely round by Ariel Grald.

Yes Ariel’s ride was beautiful

Ariel comes up big in the big events even when she travels overseas. She would be one of my selections for WEG.

So 60% non-completion? That seems … harsh.

eta: You must mean the other way around? Aiming to wipe out over half the competitors won’t garner approval from competitors or spectators.

Jon and whoever was commenting with him this morning said she should be looked at for WEG

The suspect the WEGs team is pretty much going to be more of the same unless there are injuries. PD, BM, LHS and TS w/DP as reserve. :woman_shrugging:t2:

Update from Maxime

This is using Instagrams translation feature, FYI. Original is written in French.

Completion rate was 72.5% & 62.5% jumping clear. That’s not off the average in past years.

Ariel’s a good indication of why it’s worth it to send pairs to these competitions, regardless of where they end up placing. Not that her and Simon haven’t consistently been exceptional, but that is because they (along with her incredibly devoted owner Annie) have focused on getting Ariel and Simon exposure. And even then, when you read her post dressage interview, she attributed Simon’s tense dressage to the crowds, which he hasn’t seen much of.

Annie, the owner, is a frequent volunteer at Carolina Horse Park. The amount she gives back to the sport should really be applauded. There is very few competitions from grass roots right to the international, that you don’t see her in the booth volunteering.

Thank you. I just woke up and didn’t feel like doing the math yet…

I don’t know who LHS is but it seems if we just keep doing what we have been doing for the past ten years, then we can pretty much expect the same results. I think if we are honest and look at all the countries and ask the question, if everyone sends their teams and they all perform as expected then where does the US end up? I think the answer is 6th or 7th based on recent years. At some point you have to develop more talent. Based on recent events Fair Hill, Kentucky and Badminton, I’d send Ariel, Tamra (pending stadium), Boyd and Doug.
