Yes, I believe some now wonder who was the actual victim and who was the attacker. More and more it seems larger holes are being punched into the testimony of LK and RG. Too much does not add up for many. Personally I believe any “luring” that took place was LK luring MB to a spot easier for RG and the dog to attack him. But, of course the trial is over and verdict rendered. There will always be too many questions.

Barisone chose not to testify at the criminal trial, as was his right. According to Ekat, while he could decline to testify at the civil trial, jurors will be allowed to hold his refusal to testify against him.

Even if the amnesia during the time of the actual shooting is real, there is a lot he can be examined on with respect to the weeks prior to the shooting, when no amnesia has been claimed.

Assuming the amnesia was real, why do you imagine Barisone elected not to testify, Eggbutt? There’s a lot more that may come out in the civil trial, as it seems likely Barisone will need to testify.

Because his attorney told him not to. And that’s all anyone needs to know.

IMHO, his attorney advised him not to testify because he was not willing to risk having him cross examined.

Based on what Ekat said, it’s technically possible but unlikely that he will decline to testify in the civil trial.

Re bolded. The mods sometimes come on and say “We removed some posts (or a large number of posts); please stop the bickering”, but I’m pretty sure they do not come on with a blurb on every occasion that a post is edited (by the mods) or deleted (by the mods). In essence, the mods will come on with a blurb if there is a moderate or large scale spate of objectionable off topic posts, but not every single isolated objectionable post.

I’m pretty tired of being accused of “stirring the pot” because I happen to express my opinion. On a bulletin board. Apparently I’m supposed to “read the room”, notice I’m the minority opinion, and exit so as not to disturb the echo.

As I haven’t exited voluntarily, I’m subjected to taunts that I’m a troll, an alter for a banned poster, or a “delegate” or “surrogate” of LK, harassed with posters QFPing my every post (then falsely insinuating the QFPing is due to my using “dirty deletes”), and criticized for using the forum’s tagging function in what I thought was a completely normal way. As any poster who objects to the completely gratuitous bashing of the gunshot victims is treated this way, it’s pretty clear that it’s not me, it’s the opinion I represent. That’s why I felt some kinship with RND. It’s not easy to remain civil.

First, let me say that your posting style has changed massively for the better over the course of the threads. My issue with your general contribution to the threads, especially in the past, is that I think you use the topics of “the Barisone threads” as a pretext to simply vent your hatred of LK and tear her down with comments that really have nothing to do with the supposed topic of the threads.

As just one minor example, you came on and stated that LK had “been fired” by her trainer “in a phone call” “immediately after the trial”, and had not ridden since returning to Florida after the trial. Later you said that this information did not come from “someone close to the principals” in the case, which is an oddly specific irrelevant detail.

Even if it’s true, your stating that LK was “fired” by her trainer is obviously intended to disparage her and has no useful contribution to an actual discussion of the case. It’s the “gratuitous bashing” of LK (and anyone related to them), that I find nasty.

I do not consider myself “bashed”. I said I have been “harassed” by various petty harassments which I assume are intended to bully me off the threads. Of course I understand I can leave at any time. You g may eventually succeed in harassing me enough to get me to leave. It’s pretty tedious.

That is incorrect. LK’s injuries were belittled for years and even after the testimony of the thoracic surgeon. That is why I started and continue to list them.

Suboxone of certain types and below certain amounts is allowed for competitors in Olympic sports. It’s on lists of both banned and allowed dugs along with the generic.

Back when I was a mere lurker, I remember one of earlier threads was abruptly closed by the mods in the midst of a shouting match between LK and Eggbutt. One of the last posts was Eggbutt shouting “I HOPE YOU GOT YOUR BOOB FIXED!”

Charming.

After the surgeries to save her life, I suppose there must have been subsequent surgeries to repair the lung and replace the implant.

Does that qualify as belittling the seriousness of her injuries, or would you have interpreted having “I HOPE YOU GOT YOUR BOOB FIXED” on a public forum as a genuine conveying of good wishes? Good wishes from Eggbutt, no less?

This reminds me of that time in a previous Barisone thread that another poster was accused of bullying me but neither of us (myself nor the accused) knew what was being referred to, and the accuser offered no proof. Just an accusation with something along the lines of “I was so appalled when I saw that” and no receipts. If you’re going to lob public accusations, you should at least back them up.

I watched one of my mare’s colic surgeries through the observation window. (I had no idea that horse’s intestines were that long).

I’m always glad to hear that many horses have come through the surgery well and have continued to have happy, productive lives.

Sadly, my mare, Fiesta, was not to be one of those. She shattered her right femur in attempting to calmly stand up in the recovery room and had to be euthanized.
