Barisone- New Thread

I can’t disagree with this. It does look very similar to the bandage I had on my hand when I received a dog bite.

You’re right.

Apparently I’m not quite ready to take the bar yet. Lol.

So, they can’t deliver a verdict without MB. Does he come to court to wait every day?

Hmm. That’s a good question.

I wonder how far the jail is from the courthouse. Maybe they bring him over from the jail when they hear there is a verdict?

I think I mentioned on a previous thread how I wondered if the trial would resemble the final episode of Seinfeld, where they had all sorts of random characters from years back pop up to testify at the trial. But on Seinfeld, they did not even have one Olympic athlete as a witness, much less three of them.

Although come to think of it, I do think the baseball player Keith Hernandez was there, but I don’t remember if he was actually a witness or just a spectator.

So now I’m wondering if the scene in Morris County right now is anything like the one on that show as they were awaiting the verdict.

Typically they will allow the defendant to remain in his typical location - in this case, jail - and they give the judge notice they have reached a verdict and the defendant is retrieved and brought to court.

They may bring the defendant from the jail and keep in a holding cell if there is a daily transport from the jail and facilities to do so.

It really depends on the courthouse setup, how likely a verdict is on a given day, and how the judge wants to run his/her courtroom.

I believe I was the person who made that comment about having an attorney. However, it should be noted that anyone who is in business, especially the media business, should have an attorney. I have a small business and an attorney. He advised me when I was setting up my business and is there if I need him for any other matter. It’s just good business to have an attorney.

It shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes to get from the jail to the courthouse. Although, traffic can get a bit hectic around the Green (courthouse is on the Green) depending on the time of day…morning, noontime, and particularly bad in the evening.

The stupid replies to your comment aside, what I meant is that anyone in the media business (yes, podcasters), should have an attorney. There are legal considerations for any business, so I recommend that all business owners have an attorney. My business is tiny, but I have an attorney, an accountant, and a bookkeeper. They all keep me out of trouble. But, hey, if you think the only time to hire an attorney is when a nasty old LK type comes along, you do you.

I think any verdict that keeps him on the SS/USEF list will be a loss. What’s he going to do? Putter around his FL farm and trail ride? He may have to lease his farm for the income. I get that that’s better than being in prison, but it’s still a “sentence”.

What happens if (big if) the jury tells the judge they can’t agree on a verdict because they are afraid that LK, RG, JK or some combo of the three comes after them in some manner?

We know this is illegal behavior but their names have been heard, they have gathered that these three have no brakes and at least two have plenty of free time and two are wealthy. I wouldn’t trust the legal system to have enough clout to slow their roll.

He could still train horses. He could develop young horses and sell them. He just would be very limited with respect to coaching, clinics and showing involving USEF members.

Would he be able to lease his farm to USEF members, or would they be considered to be “supporting a SafeSport-banned member”?

Wow that would be interesting wouldn’t it? Although the jury is mostly men is it not? I’d think they’d not be that intimidated but then again, watching MB throughout and seeing what happened to him would certainly make anyone sit up and think twice!

Maybe it would be OK if someone rented or leased from an LLC where he is one or more degrees removed, or if it is in a blind trust. But I doubt someone could stroke a check to Michael Barisone and not risk censure.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard that question or an answer to it—interesting.

My first reaction was, no I don’t think that would matter.

Male jurors may mistakenly believe they are safe but we all know that having a family is providing life with hostages or leverage. After all, MB was very concerned for the safety of MHG, her children, the minors on the farm and his staff with LK and RG in residence.

I hope it ends like Dallas… and it was all just a nightmare.

This was, after all, the plot of these three.

So, how does he sell it?

List it with a realtor like anyone else?
