One of my fav podcasts discuss the defense for MB.
Agree, very interesting.
Which arm of MBs was broken/dislocated?
My husband owns a remote cabin in western Ontario and wanted to get a gun (bears, etc). He had to fly up to Toronto, attend a very extensive two day class, and take a pretty difficult test (and about a million background checks). Canada’s process to own a gun is excellent! I believe that if you do not secure your firearms and someone steals or take them and commits a crime you are liable and you’ll be charged too. Or even if you give it to them to use I think! They must be locked up at all times. RC would be in hot water if this happened up there!
Left
I thought it was his elbow. And dislocated - not broken. I might be wrong though
Whoops. I thought you specified part of the arm
I am guessing JK was not called because he could not add anything to the prosecution that they did not already have with out risking the defense asking him stuff that they did not want to be asked and the defense did not call him because knowing that someone is willing to lie makes them a not easy to predict witness.
Disclaimer - I am not privy to the actual reasons, this is just my guess.
I believe he had his left arm in a sling at that first hearing. And he appeared to be left handed when he was taking notes during the trial.
(MB could take notes, but the jurors could not take notes?!?)
I’ll bet the prosecutor would agree with that statement by now.
I was waiting for Mr B to have a Perry Mason moment by asking MBs friends if he shot right handed or left handed and they would say left handed. RK said he shot with his right hand. Alas, never happened.
Google it
Then LET IT GO, Elsa.
While that would have been super entertaining to watch, it probably would not have been very conclusive, based on the number of people here on the BB who say they do some things with one hand but other things with the other hand.
It would just be one more thing to confuse the jury. And they already had plenty of information to do that! Lol.
Totally agree…just highlighting the similarities
General trial related question.
Does anyone ever offer or agree to a plea deal while the jury deliberates? Or do they figure they’ve come this far, they might as well just wait and see where the chips fall with the jury?
Also, it occurs to me that when we organize our big online post trial watch party of My Cousin Vinny, it might be worthwhile to make it a double feature with 12 Angry Men.
I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen the latter movie, so I don’t know if it’s accurate or entertaining, but it seems like it would be very appropriate for the circumstances.
Yes, it happens. I can’t remember it ever happening during a trial I was watching.
I’m reviewing summation
MB mother abused him.
He was sexually abused also, but not by her.
That was the impression I had during the summation, although I have not gone back to watch it again.
Yep, the guy who sold Dellen Millard the gun that killed Tim Bosma was convicted and I think got 10 years.
