There is an article in the original post that was the update.

The news of the SS status change was discussed last week. The alleged “news” was that Nancy Jaffer posted a blog post on it on Friday.

DiFranco didn’t get her horses out either and she was actively looking.

Did DiFranco ever claim to fear for her life or concern that someone was plotting to harm her horses? She had the luxury of waiting to find an ideal place to move to, something that does not indicate fear for one’s safety.

My impression of her testimony was she seemed somewhere between deeply concerned to very scared.

LK could’ve found a way out if she wanted to. If she would’ve poured all of her energy into getting the heck out of Dodge instead of the “finish the bastard” stuff, installing smoke detectors so she could stay, and other faffing about, then I have no doubt she could’ve found some arrangement.

She has the benefit of having a lot of money and no job (so, a lot of free time). This makes it even easier to move, and find accommodation (even just a hotel) for herself. The stable didn’t need to be fancy or with an Olympian, just adequate enough for her horses to live there temporarily. If there is a will, there is a way.

I find it very hard to believe that those tapes/recordings have anything “terrifying” or valuable on them, for a variety of reasons. I’m fine with being wrong, but I feel as though whatever was said on the tapes was twisted to fit whatever narrative. I mean, this is the same person who found the username “Cutter” to be threatening. On a horse forum. Where one might jump to the cutting horse conclusion first rather than some far fetched theory, but these folk hear hoofbeats and think, no, insist and proclaim zebras.

It sucks when you do bad things and there are consequences You can’t have your cake and eat it too. You can’t do terrible things, be a shady character, and expect to not have the reputation. Be mad at yourself for acting that way, not others. If others are talking about what you did, the bottom line is it’s what you did. I swear some people want the good image but aren’t a good person and get bent out of shape when others say something about it. Then it’s “I’m protecting my family” from what? The consequences of their own actions? Or “Lies! All lies!” When it isn’t lies. It just doesn’t match what you want.

Sure, we can say that LK didn’t shoot anybody, but again, this doesn’t absolve her of her other behaviors. It’s like, I can’t vandalize someone’s car and then say “but I didn’t burn their house down” that doesn’t take away from what I did, and there is no award for not burning someone’s house down, you shouldn’t do that anyway!

The fixation on “she didn’t shoot anyone” is weird. MB allegedly shot her and demonstrated that he has/had some mental issues…which is why he is where he is at the moment. Dealing with the consequences of his behavior (even if he couldn’t help it at the time). I’m no fan of his (don’t know him well enough), nor am I saying he did or can do no wrong. I guess I should say “oh but he didn’t kill anyone that day!” This should be the comeback to “she didn’t shoot anyone” if we’re using that kind of “logic” I guess.

The “she didn’t shoot anyone” and “she wasn’t on trial” comments are to bring reality to a conversation that has gone down the rabbit hole where MB must protect himself from attacks from LK and RG. He doesn’t have to fear them. It’s the opposite.

His delusion per the defense mental health experts and believed by the jury was that he feared them to the point of shooting her twice. He needs to recover from that to be released and live his life.

Encouraging him to stay on his delusion such as reading some of these posts will not help him.

Hi RND - I understand where you are coming from and there are certainly those of another persuasion that could look at how they are writing their rebuttal.

From what I have read of this trial, unfortunately, the case is not as clear as you (and I) might think of as proof of who shot the gun. It was a given that a gun was shot. And that there were three people involved - one of whom was injured. That is not, in itself, proof who shot who - just that a gun was shot and a person was injured.

How this happened is disputed - merely carrying a gun (or, indeed, waving it around) is not a crime in the USA. (It is where I live in NZ ) Whether or not MB shot the gun or it was accidently fired in a tussle or <> was not judged.

What was tried was that, IF MB did fire the gun, did he understand that it was (1) a crime and (2) he had intent to commit that crime. By being found " not guilty by reason of insanity" - which is a very high standard in any court in any country - the jury said that MB did not shoot LK.

I’ve been on a murder trial like this - and the steps were very very very clearly laid out by both the prosecution and the defence. Mine was “did they commit murder or manslaughter” and it all came down to whether or not the person intended to commit murder or not.

It wouldn’t have to be limited to fear of violence as neglect could be as deadly, empty water buckets, neglected small injuries that turn into cellulitis, a missed colic until it is too late.

Another borderline libelous insinuation that LK’s horses may have been at risk at SGF.

And still the question is: If she was under the delusion that her horses might be harmed, then why the h*** didn’t she get out?

And we are sick of the mantra that one just can’t move 6 horses overnight. BS - as others have mentioned, it can be done and it has been done on very short notice. Plus, LK had offers of places to go, offers of trailering help, etc., etc.

No, she wanted to stay because she was under the delusion that if she just kept ratcheting up the pressure, she could force MHG to leave, and everything would return to as before - she could have MB (mostly) to herself, and she could continue to reign as the doyenne of Hawthorne Hill Farm.

Obviously one can, physically, move 4 or 6 horses or whatever within 24 hours.

But she had been given a vacate order on the 6th to vacate in x days. I’ve read in varying lists that x was 30 days or 3 days. Was there testimony on the number of days specified in the vacate order?

Even in the extreme case of being told you leave within three days on Aug 6, why would you feel you had to pack out within 24 hours to avoid being shot?

Force MHG to leave? MHG was being described as MBs fiancée. How would anyone think MHG could be forced to leave if she and MB were fiancees, in the traditional sense or in the modern sense.

It’s clear that MHG wanted LK gone, but I’ve seen zero indication that LK was attempting to force MHG out.

For one thing, DiFranco wasn’t told to “get out.” For another thing, she may have been thinking the situation would resolve esp. since MB was working on a plan to legally force LK and RG to leave.

Your borderline libelous insinuations that LK’s horses may have been at risk of intentional harm at SGF are really over the top. Is that your delusion, or was that her delusion? At any rate, if she was so worried about possible harm, then why the h*** didn’t she get them out of there?

Just a reminder that while fancy schmancy barns can be wonderful what makes them fancy schmancy is usually amenities for the rider. The horse doesn’t need fancy schmancy if they have a big stall, good bedding, nice surfaces to ride on, ample and proper turnout/pasture with safe fencing according to his needs. Add a hot/cold bathing place and it’s horsey heaven.

And from what I understand from friends in NJ that’s in the $700 - $850 range.

I have refrained from posting, as what started out as a reasonable and interesting discussion of MB’s changed SS status and what that might mean quickly devolved into a rehashing of old debates that have been asked, pondered, and answered a thousand times. It’s tiresome, really, because it is an interesting question of where the SS investigation will go and Jaffer did have some additional information.

That said, I wanted to address the above. That price range is not one I am familiar with. In my experience, in that area - depending on amenities - dry stall board is around $500, and care board is 1200+. Of course, you can find pasture board cheaper, and I am sure there are private “backyard” facilities that may be more affordable as well… especially if they lack an indoor, full care options, or trainer on site. Also, go further south and your dollar will stretch further. That close to the City? Not so much.

That said, it was testified to that a soft place to land with a comparable program had been negotiated and she refused. And I also saw the FB posts with offers to assist that she refused… so it’s kind of moot. Just wanted to address the expense. NJ is cheaper than NY or CT, but it isn’t cheap.

The argument that LK could/should have left when help was offered falls apart every time because the real issue was not the barn or the caliber of the trainers, but the fact that she wanted/needed to live on the property.

I would love to know why?

But, I thought when they were in Florida she did not live on the property, so clearly that requirement only was at this facility.

She has the apartment/crash pad on the farm in FL. I don’t know why she couldn’t spend the night there.

They were off-site when they were initially staying in FL before relocating to NJ to be with MB, being that it was a seasonal rental, paid for by the father, as part of his payments for her “equestrian pursuits”. The supposed apartment on the farm is at the new place in FL, ostensibly so she can stay in comfort when incapacitated by her drug use, though it’s been said that she still lays around in RG’s truck, covered in a blanked and smoking cigs while he mills about and does whatever tasks he’s appointed.

Incorrect. The use of the apartment is said to be for resting. No one mentioned “incapacitated by drugs” except you. The person saying she stayed in the truck was the guy who said she had him fired from a $140,000/year job. That was just his story and my take on that was his behavior got him fired, not her influence.
