Saying MB should have been the one to leave is disingenuous. Its not a very considered opinion. It would take a pretty dispassionate fram of mind to leave the property, on MB’s part. He would have to consider all the horses on the property (not to leave them behind), all the kids and students, the rest of the adults. He would have to arrange to move the horses, and get everyone out to their homes, and dismantle his business. It would take several days to make this happen, maybe evven a week, collecting sadldles, personal items, packing, arranging moving trucks and vehicles, and maybe if he had, it would have left LK and RG and their horses behind alone on the property, where the owners and lawyers could deal with them. It would have risked LK taking over the property, claiming it was abandoned, which according to her was actually her intents, and giving up all of his business and holdings would have taken quite a determined frame of mind, which MB did not have, and who among you would have? He was shocked at what was transpiring, leaving his house and getting kicked out of the barn by LK and RG, the entire circumstances were not dispassionate and logical. I don’t know if I could have left. I would have been very determined to get LK off my property and out of my business. This happened very fast. Anyone saying that “he should have left” isn’t a very thinking person.
This a bit OT, but is that couch that partially appears on the left in some of the patio pictures, the same one that LK originally said she was sitting on reading?
If so, I don’t think it is really “outdoor furniture”—out in the weather—gross!
Weren’t his first words on waking up in the hospital something about whether his family was safe? It might not primarily have been hislife he was worried about. By leaving he would leave everyone and everything else at her mercy.
I tried to find the posts I seem to remember but my searches are failing.
ETA: I see that as I was typing and fruitlessly searching, @Ambitious_Kate posted very much the same (and more eloquently than I).
MB did not own the place and had no ownership stake, as far as we know. He merely lived on the property and had his businesses (Dressage/riding and trucking for horses) operating there. It was owned by an elderly, somewhat wealthy couple, who were patrons of Dressage and Barisone in particular. LK could have easily gone to the owners, whom has she claimed to be on good terms with, and gotten permission to stay, though it is unknown if they were aware of the dispute between MB and LK, as they have not been mentioned in the legal matters.
I didn’t say he SHOULD have left, I wondered why he didn’t. Of course he’s allowed to stay on his own property. But if I were truly afraid for my life while on my own property, I would absolutely leave my own property until I felt it was safe to return. Putting my own life in jeopardy (if I truly felt that is what was going on) simply because I own the property is weird to me.
Exactly. If he had left, he would have been leaving everything, his entire life and business and LK and RG would have moved on that. She has even said she would have his property and business. MB leaving would have been a monumentally horrific and nearly crushing decision for him. It wasn’t his property to pursue her over after he left. He would have been completely abandoning himself and his life.
The business was NOT the property. Sweetgrass Farm LLC was his Equestrian business, on the couple’s property. I checked the records after the shooting and he was not the owner of the property. The Florida location is HIS property.
Didn’t LK say several times that she was so covered in blood she couldn’t dial her phone, etc? Based on the clothing evidence, there was minimal blood. So, all the blood on her hands was MB’s?? If not, whose blood was it?
It was his business and he had responsibilities. For her it was a hobby and she had many offers. Also, escalation didn’t work well for her. Clearly her choices might be considered flawed by some.
