I’m going to keep in mind the half-halt and pulley rein images. With the trial starting soon and some of the really knowledgeable posters, can we police ourselves and bring the snark down to a dull roar?

MHG ended up with a fireman within a year. That sounds like a cliche. Run to a rescuer. That is not a criticism of MHG just an observation. I’m glad she and VK are out of this, LK survived it and can still ride.

Something tells me you have no personal knowledge to even speak about Mary Haskins’ motives, emotions, life or thought process since she fled NJ. It is said she was extremely afraid when RG and JK came roaring into the barn the next day and made an immediate decision to leave as quickly as she possibly could to one of several secluded locations offered to her. I wouldn’t be surprised if she doesn’t fully testify of her fear of RG. I certainly don’t know what the strategy will be for her testimony. She has been painted as the instigator of this entire situation. We’ll see how that plays out at the trial.

Let’s keep in mind LK made several very dramatic posts in the days leading up to the shooting of her fears for her safety. She received immediate responses from people ready transport her and her horses immediately and said No to all of them. It isn’t logical to post extreme fear on social media and then say you didn’t think it would get that bad. Malarkey.

Uh, one case, summed up in a news article you read, does not make something a “standard playbook.”

If an attorney is not allowed to mount a defense, well, I guess there goes due process and all those other rights out with the bathwater.

Watching someone with a handset to their ear staring at a computer screen absolutely does not indicate any state of mind other than watching the proceedings. I think he said one or two words without discernable emotion…“No, your honor”.

Everyone saying LK had an exact replica of the weapon Ruth Cox had is mistaken. All you have said as fact is that you don’t know a Ruger from a Luger and you just don’t know what kind of weapon you were looking at.

No one said that. What WAS said is that someone besides me also saw LKs post of having a Ruger.

I never said he was a killer. He is charged with attempted murder. I said RG may have saved several lives and I am concerned for the safety of the other women in MB’s life if and when he is released, especially in what seems to be his current state of mind.

Anyone woman who has been through a divorce has probably been asked by their attorney if there is any danger to their safety. Anyone who has ever gotten out alive of an abusive relationship can attest to the dangerous moments. One safety expert advises against getting a restraining order because it can set off the abuser. However, without a legal precedent of a restraining order and the evidence provided to get it, shooting an abuser can be charged as a crime.

MB did nothing to legally evict LK. Instead he shot her, twice.

This is still America. Presumed innocent until proven guilty, etc.

Presumed innocent until proven guilty (beyond a reasonable doubt) applies to a standard (negative) defense.

In the affirmative defense of NGI, in most states it’s presumed sane until proven insane.

We’ll know soon enough if that’s the presumption in NJ.

I find it fascinating that this little point or factoid about LK having posted on FB she owned a Ruger upsets people so… It was so alarming to LK that she sent all those threatening PMs to me. And the continuing pushback all along and even here.

If she never said that then what’s the problem?

If she never said that, then your stating that she posted that is a lie. That’s the “problem”.
