Barisone Verdict Is In: Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity

Your slew of responses to my comments convinces me that you have a severe information processing issue. Just ignore me already. Go feed Knight. Do something. Anything. You’ve spent way too much time on COTH.

At the end of the day, we have a verdict. Let’s all move on.

The might have, except SGF has all the discovery that MB has, which shows the plotting that LK engaged in. No way any insurance company pays out with evidence that she engaged in nefarious and potentially criminal acts against him.

Yup. Exhibit A Judge commenter saying LK drove MB insane.

SGF will have liability insurance, correct? It’s up to the insurance company as to whether they want to settle or spend money on an expensive trial. In this case, a court has already determined that MB attempted to murder LK.

Whether they settle will probably depend on what size settlement would induce LK to drop SGF as a respondent. I have no idea what size settlement that would be.

Interesting that you would somehow know that “nobody is settling with LK”.

OK. Let’s wait and see.

Was it important to restate using future tense instead of present tense? I understood your position the first time.

You do know how personal injury cases work, yes?

Lawyer doesn’t get paid unless they win and then it’s about a third of the award. In a case as apparent as this with over 90% of watchers feeling LK drove MB nuts how many attorneys will do all that work and deal with the clients, etc for what? Like nothing. Zip. Nada.

Unless of course LK can find a blue chip attorney from a top 5 global law firm.

And of course MB will ask for a jury trial.

So now you’re predicting that LK will not be able to bring her civil suit because no attorney will take the case?

OK. Let’s wait and see.

Ooo, I have not heard that line in a long time. Classic!

Cool.

It’ll be interesting to see the rest of the defenses documentation get released into the public venue. And stuff about unlicensed contractors and black veiled recon missions and illegal recordings.

Come to think of it, it just might be something to look forward to. I’m sure another group of jurors will like to see all the evidence and posts and stuff.

Maybe the ear witness lawyer will want to jump back into the fray.

That worked out well for him the last time, right?

There appears to be a fundamental confusion from some posters as to what the meaning of “not guilty due to reason of insanity” is.

It is an acquittal and the purpose of the detention in a mental health facility is to heal and rehabilitate where possible not as an alternative to incarceration.

It is not the same thing as “guilty but insane.”

Here is another article that was posted on the other thread, just to do a little housekeeping here.

There’s also laws in NJ about contributory and comparative negligence. I’d have to read the lawsuits again, but that theoretically could come into play.

I would enjoy learning about that.
