As for reasons for the delay, I wonder if it is not so much the lack of available beds, but rather a human resource constraint. IOW, perhaps the hospital hasn’t gotten back up to full staffing after the pandemic (many folks in healthcare left their jobs to either care for family members or take a job in another area or setting that wasn’t as stressful or risky as a psych hospital could be).

For most facilities, “available beds” means staffed beds, rather than total actual beds. But this is a really good point, and probably is a factor here.

I don’t see a trust allowing the trustee (I’m in this hypothetical) to put his name on the property, that feels like a breach of fiduciary duty. Maybe the trust belongs to JK? Most likely the money is not from a trust, but some other investment, and buying the FL property simply changes the investment type to real estate from financial instrument.
