That was my point. If you want someone’s cooperation, it is strategically important to show a very basic level of respect, or at least refrain from blatant disrespect, irrespective of the level of respect you think is “owed”.

But given that RG’s name appears NOWHERE in any of the civil litigation documents, and all the testimony that was presented at court, most especially RGs testimony that he only did enough work to offset LKs board expenses… and Mike McGrain’s testimony that it was actually Mike who performed 70-80% of the work related to the tiling in the farmhouse… and it was Mike who took the lead on the performance of that job, because Mike had far more experience and skill with renovations than RG (Mike worked with his father for years, and his father does high end home renovations)…

Also… why would SGF have admitted anything about RG as part of the ongoing litigation? Is the civil attorney in that matter who is representing Lauren Kanarek (Bruce Nagel) also actually representing RG?

Huh. That would be interesting. If so, I guess it’s an indication of improved family relations, and a step forward for JK and RG… given that JK was unwilling to pay Ed David to represent RG in the earlier landlord tenant disputes in August 2019. That’s on the record during the trial, as part of EDs testimony (he said he ONLY represented LK), and it seems like it was a bit of a legal error on JKs part, because RG then sat in on a meeting involving LK, JK and Ed David… and recorded it. I think RG testified that meeting happened on 08/05 or 08/06. Anyway… it’s pretty obvious that by allowing an unrepresented party (RG) to sit in on that meeting involving the Kanareks and their real estate attorney, that destroyed any privilege concerning what was discussed during that meeting.

So I guess it would make sense for JK to pay for Nagel to represent RG now. JK wouldn’t want to make the same legal mistake twice, and have more issues involving loss of attorney client privilege related to LKs discussions with attorneys, if RG was to tag along for more of these discussions and meetings as the civil litigation moves forward.

What I remember is that RG said that in doing work, he didn’t want to get “to far ahead” in the balance owed, given that the board being offset was only $2,500 a month.

I’m not saying RG could get money out of SGF if it goes to trial.

I’ve been saying all along that I’m predicting SGF will attempt to settle rather than litigate. If you’re an attorney trying to get the plaintiff to accept a given settlement, don’t you try to ingratiate yourself with the plaintiff that you’re negotiating with? Say you’re so sorry they were injured on your property and you’re delighted that they’re competing again? Even though it’s not in the lawsuit, say you wanted to make sure SGF had paid renovation bills that MB refused to pay?

I’m just saying that if I were a lawyer for SGF, I’d tidy up any disputed renovation bills in the hopes that that made it easier to settle the injury claim. If the renovation amount was on the order of $10,000, that peanuts compared to their exposure on the gunshot injury.

there’s no way based on all the available evidence that she’d ever entertain a settlement from anyone. After all she’s made it clear that she’s self funded with what she believes is HER money. She doesn’t need theirs. It’s about making a point.

The Kanareks are clearly all about using the civil litigation process to further punish everyone involved in this case, and to force other parties to pay extensive legal fees to defend themselves.

I have no idea what MBs current finances are, after going through the criminal trial, or how long he can afford to fight them. But in my opinion, the goal of the Kanareks is not actually about getting any money from him. It’s about bankrupting him, and continuing the harassment and mental and emotional stress.

I think the only way MB will be free of these people is if he actually can mentally, emotionally and financially survive going all the way through the civil litigation process with them. And then be DONE. He and LK can have their mutual orders of protection, and everyone can live happily ever after in good old Loxahatchee then. (sarcasm about that last part).

The law is not to be used to resolve fabricated playground wrongs.

You don’t extort money for non existent repairs to compensate for bodily injury.

RG is entitled to nothing. His criminal case ended in a not guilty verdict. He’s out.

Now LK can sue for injuries but given the particular set of circumstances here I wouldn’t be buying any new palm trees anytime soon.

I was surprised to see it not only brought up from so long ago but also that that poster was speaking for you and others. It’s just bizarre.

Just want to put it out there that while I guess I was dragged into the melee by my being tagged by someone else, I have never felt threatened by you. In fact, I have liked a few of your posts here.

I also want to say that while I do think these Barisone threads can get quite nasty, and I have felt attacked here on occasion (to the point that even barnmates have said I have been treated unkindly when I didn’t even know they were following the forums and to the point that I stepped away), I can only recall one particular poster who made me feel that way on a regular basis (and they and I have worked it out privately). I am sure others were less than kind, but I scrolled on by. If you were one of them, I didn’t even notice. So please don’t take my being tagged as anything at all. I was a bit mortified, if I am honest… I fight my own battles.

Given the sloppiness of the agreement and the absence of a contract, I can easily believe that there was a legitimate disputed amount.

I didn’t say that filing the suit was unjustified.

But look at the counterclaims from MB. Then refer to all of LKs social media, and much of what was revealed during trial.

Both sides have claims. Big claims. If the civil case continues (I suspect it will… the Kanareks are nothing if not litigious)…

It will become partly about who has the deepest pockets, and keeps going, vs. who cries uncle first.

And the OJ comparisons are ABSURD. LK and RG are not analagous to Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. Who are both tragically dead. They died horrific very violent deaths. Someone erroneously referred to the whole thing as a shooting earlier on these forums. It wasn’t. They were butchered… I think Goldman might have been almost decapitated in the violent attack.

The civil case involved a wrongful death complaint. Nicole Brown Simpson’s sister and Ron Goldman’s father were the plaintiffs. Or maybe just Ron Goldman’s father. I can’t remember. Regardless… they were INCREDIBLY compelling plaintiffs. Their grief was palpable.

Tell me… how compelling do you think it will be in LKs civil case when a jury hears about how LK cyber stalked and mentally tortured a grieving mother by falsely alleging (in a public post on social media) that mother’s child’s accidental drowning death was a result of the mother being preoccupied with graphic sexual acts?

I’m pretty sure that the jury is NOT going to find LK a particularly sympathetic or compelling plaintiff after hearing about that. And… in a civil matter… that and much more will become part of the evidence the jury sees.
