I don’t know if it’s true that LK was floating loans for the utility bills or not. But I can totally believe that MB was between a rock and a hard place — the rock being MHG with her insistence that MB send LK off, possibly threatening to leave him if he didn’t, and the hard place being LK, who he may have needed desperately for the revenue she brought in.

I believed IM when he said that MB, rather than being decisive and making a tough choice, he wanted it both ways, telling MHG he would deal with LK, and actively keeping LK as a client while telling her he would deal with MHG. It was untenable.

But if MB was under extreme stress by being between a rock and a hard place, it doesn’t make sense to me to say the situation was untenable solely because of the “hard place” and not because of “the rock”.

MB was caught in a dilemma, and, as it turned out, couldn’t cope. He became delusional.

If he had not had psychological/mental problems prior to May/June 2019, he could have coped with a difficult but not really that unusual situation; just suck it up and tell LK to leave, well before August 2019 and accept the lost revenue, or suck it up and tell MHG he wasn’t willing to send LK packing.

If MB had ever resolved that he simply wanted LK gone, he would have told her to leave (before Aug 5) instead of having her bring more horses in from quarantine and making plans to coach her at shows later in August, right?

I have no problem with LKs actions during the year and a half she trained with MB being discussed. She posted the dramatic FB posts about the king and queen. She called SS to report him for bullying. She called the BI to harass him.

But what has been discussed here for more than 2.5 years goes way beyond discussing LKs actual role in creating the situation that led to the shooting. That’s just bashing to tear someone down.

I see the tragedy as resulting from MB suffering a mental break after being caught in an untenable situation. The untenable situation was not created by LK in a vacuum. I think the bashing lies in the insistence that the entire tragedy somehow resulted purely from the actions of LK in a vacuum.

#1- She admitted, under oath nonetheless, that she lies on social media.

#2- Lauren and the boy wonder had a deal for the boy wonder to work off some of their expenses every month because money was tight as per the boy wonder, again under oath.

#3- Do you honestly believe Lauren has that kind of money just lying around at her disposal? Do you have any idea what it costs to run a farm like that monthly?

If the doctor says she was released on day 19, how exactly does it work that she was intubated for 3 weeks? They sent her home (oh wait, the hotel) with all the respiratory equipment? Right, not likely so maybe think about your numbers a little. No one denies she was intubated. No reason to make up a number of days.

She was intubated for two weeks. She talked about, and showed hospitals pictures of, herself extubated and recovering in the step down for a week after being extubated, then sent to the hotel.

Being on a ventilator for that length of time (less than 3 weeks total time in the hospital) does not lead to tooth damage requiring extensive work. Drug use does though, as does poor oral hygiene in general.

Now, there have been Covid patients who were ventilated who have had problems with their teeth afterward, but that is due to the nature of the disease. Patients who had underlying problems particularly advanced gum disease had worse outcomes when ill and particularly when ventilated.

Gum disease is prevalent and the chronic inflammation isn’t good for anyone. It leads to other problems too - heart disease in particular.

Anyway, if Lauren needed her mouth rebuilt after being in the hospital she went in needing her mouth rebuilt before getting shot.

He shouldn’t have shot her. He should have had the water and electricity turned off to the house, played death metal at it and hired someone to serve notice to the addicts that it was past time for them to get the **** out.

That doesn’t excuse Lauren’s actions leading up to the tragedy. Nor does it make her circle of enablers look any better. None of whom warned MB that she was a recovering addict and that RG was still using.

Who sets out to gain the trust of someone who suffers from a psychological problem and then destroy them (more)?

I don’t have a detailed understanding of what it would cost to run a facility like that, but I can easily imagine it would be a crushing expense, especially if a large number of the horses were owned by MB, MHG, or working students. Even more crushing since he was operating and paying rent on two facilities.

Even if she wasn’t paying any bills beyond her board and training, I can easily imagine that the financial situation made him reluctant to tell her to leave— in the months prior to August.

My best guess is that LK’s father forced MB to continue providing services. There is a history of him doing this so why would it not happen here?

The house had been, by the fire inspector, basically shut down. No one was, per order of the FI, supposed to be in there.
In that instance, would it still be illegal to shut off the utilities, if you believed it had been vacated?
What if it hadn’t been, but should have?
