Barisone Verdict Is In: Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity

I love that!

My parents always subscribed to the New Yorker, but my father would pick up the New York Times himself every Sunday as part of his weekly routine.

Agreed.

So now they’re going to think that every time they publish a horse related story, they’re going to lose subscribers? :woman_shrugging:

Go back to post number 589 for instructions on how to ignore some poster(s). Very useful.

I was all about Science Tuesdays!!

No, I mentioned bias reporting in my note to them. The NYT is a shell of its former self and has lost integrity on many fronts IMO.

How are you still quoting an anonymous poster as a legitimate source of facts? I don’t understand this line of thinking.

For many years, my mother attended a weekly class at the local senior center where they would read the Science Times on Tuesday and then discuss the articles at their class a couple of days later.

So she always had to be sure to get a copy of the Times on Tuesday, no matter what! Long before the days of reading it online. Lol.

Fair enough.

My crack about “Super Lawyer” was referring to a website identifying attorneys in the area, listing Mr Blinkas as a “Super Lawyer”. And yes, Mr Deininger works in the same building.

I’m going to do this: Send an unsealed card to MB, inside a larger envelope with a letter of thanks and congratulations to both Mr Blinkas and Mr Deininger.
And one more point, though not the same thing: Many years ago I was a passenger in a car wreck and was badly injured. The driver was killed. There were drugs involved. While in the hospital, I received dozens of cards of support, many from strangers. They helped.

Oh, one more thing: The heathen’s hospital bills will be significant. Never forget MB was hospitalized as well after being severely beaten by the heathen’s toady.

Ah, I see.

I still think the cape could be a nice accessory for him. Lol.

I read the NYT article. I love how it references their article in 2019 in which LK threw a pity party for herself, and talks about how MB wanted LK to move out so that he didn’t have to live in the barn anymore.

As if that even makes the top 10 reasons he would have wanted her to leave
.

(No doubt that information came from LK herself)

I agree. :grinning:

Yup.

Plus
if he moves to private inpatient mental health care after his 30 day evaluation period?

VERY expensive.

One of his counterclaims to LKs suit is that SHE caused HIM profound emotional distress. And was negligent and reckless in doing so.

The civil litigation is going to end up a big tit for tat mess of claims and counterclaims. If it continues on, and on, and on, the only winners will be the attorneys.

The Kanareks want to push it in order to break MB. That much is pretty clear to me. But others are certainly entitled to different opinions. Lots of people on these forums have deeper knowledge than I do about civil litigation, insurance claims like the one that MIGHT be involved with SGF and this case at some point
etc etc etc.

@ekat brought up the whole concept of contributing to your own injuries, and how NJ law works. And that definitely seems like it is going to come into play in this case.

It will be interesting to see what happens next. MAYBE if SafeSport finally acts against LK, the Kanareks will decide to leave MB alone, and save their funds for suing USEF and SafeSport instead.

As it stands presently
it sure sounds like LK is still holding a grudge against USEF. In particular, anyone there who talked with MB and MHG about their SafeSport complaint against LK in the days leading up to the shooting.

What a MESS.

Yes, I think their biggest mistake in that article was not throwing out all the notes from the previous article, which was obviously way off base in hindsight.

I mean, I get it that it probably seemed easier to use the background information they already had on file. But not in this particular case!

Bad reporting is bad reporting. Doesn’t matter what the topic is. News providers should always be called out on this. Thankfully, we can choose our news sources. If you choose to read the NYTs, that’s your choice, and I respect it. However, I can still be quite disappointed that they did not improve upon their original reporting after the trial when more facts were known. Ultimately, this just weaponizes LK.

Regarding an earlier comment that was made (not sure it was you, my apologies if it wasn’t), I do think that an editor and reporter would at least scan the previous two related articles from two years ago. That’s just due diligence.

For sure.

I can only think that it seems like LK has managed to fool a few people, so maybe she fooled them as well.

The NYT reporting is pretty on point for horse reporting (outside of the Triple Crown). Unfortunate but that’s life. Consider the coverage of how a “stubborn horse ruins Gold Medal” at Tokyo. Even my local sports reporter (which Times article’s writer is) screwed up, and I live in a horsey town.

Just imagine how a movie of this will go. Friesian jumper, red coat, rubber boots. Same old.
