Barisone Verdict Is In: Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity

Indeed. That is COMPLETELY different than people who have entrenched personality disorders. They often refuse treatment and see themselves as perfectly fine. Or… they receive treatment but refuse to take any responsibility for their roles in a given crisis.

I have actually participated in family therapy before with people who have personality disorders. The way they can (and do) sit through an hour of therapy with a professional and STILL avoid taking any responsibility for any issues? It’s pretty specific. Trained mental health professionals can identify this sort of thing. It’s pretty easy to them conclude that the person’s personality disorder is NOT in remission, regardless of the fact that they are attending/participating in therapy.

Schizophrenia is very biological in nature. And tragic. And challenging to treat. People with Schizophrenia who actually do have a history of violence and are committed? They do make up a significant part of the NGI population which are never released. It’s very sad. But also… a very hard illness to treat and make sure is consistently in remission. Jared Loughner - the guy who shot Gabby Giffords - comes to mind.

MB does not fit either of those categories. And the number one contributing factor to his psychotic break and his delusional disorder spiraling out of control… well… it was an environmental stressor. Environmental stressors can be managed, and even actually removed to a certain extent.

Once again he began the 1st step necessary for a formal eviction.

Stop ignoring this fact as you’re not fooling anyone.

Maybe Hut-Ho’s SO also plays ninja in dresses & black veils & sneaking around the neighborhood. Kinda skews your perspective when this is normal behavior by a loved one. You forget that most people will find this unnerving and repugnant.

So tell me… did LKs people take any action when they saw she was tormenting people on social media? Did they tell her not to threaten to sue posters? Tell me did they control her when she posted stuff like this?

Your so quick to criticize MBs friends, but it seems to me the ONLY thing LKs friends/family have ever done is insulate themselves from her damage by not allowing her to live with them and tossing money at the problem from time to time as a band aid.

What action did LKs people take when she posted this, hmm? WHAT ACTION???

Just a few key excerpts from the Cleveland Clinic link I shared earlier…

What causes delusional disorder?

As with many other psychotic disorders, the exact cause of delusional disorder is not yet known. Researchers are, however, looking at the role of various genetic, biological, and environmental or psychological factors.

  • Genetic. The fact that delusional disorder is more common in people who have family members with delusional disorder or schizophrenia suggests there might be a genetic factor involved. It is believed that, as with other mental disorders, a tendency to develop delusional disorder might be passed on from parents to their children.
  • Biological. Researchers are studying how abnormalities of certain areas of the brain might be involved in the development of delusional disorders. An imbalance of certain chemicals in the brain, called neurotransmitters, also has been linked to the formation of delusional symptoms. Neurotransmitters are substances that help nerve cells in the brain send messages to each other. An imbalance in these chemicals can interfere with the transmission of messages, leading to symptoms.
  • Environmental/psychological. Evidence suggests that delusional disorder can be triggered by stress.Alcohol and drug abuse also might contribute to the condition. People who tend to be isolated, such as immigrants or those with poor sight and hearing, appear to be more vulnerable to developing delusional disorder.

How is delusional disorder treated?

Treatment for delusional disorder most often includes medication and psychotherapy (a type of counseling); however, delusional disorder is highly resistant to treatment with medication alone. People with severe symptoms or who are at risk of hurting themselves or others might need to be in the hospital until the condition is stabilized.

Psychotherapy is the primary treatment for delusional disorder. It provides a safe environment for patients to discuss their symptoms while encouraging healthier and more functional attitudes and behaviors.

Psychosocial treatments. Various psychosocial treatments can help with the behavioral and psychological problems associated with delusional disorder. Through therapy, patients also can learn to control their symptoms, identify early warning signs of relapse, and develop a relapse prevention plan. Psychosocial therapies include the following:

  • Individual psychotherapy can help the person recognize and correct the underlying thinking that has become distorted.
  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) helps the person learn to recognize and change thought patterns and behaviors that lead to troublesome feelings.
  • Family therapy can help families deal more effectively with a loved one who has delusional disorder, enabling them to contribute to a better outcome for the person.

Medications : The primary medications used to attempt to treat delusional disorder are called anti-psychotics.

What is the outlook for people with delusional disorder?

The outlook for people with delusional disorder varies depending on the person, the type of delusional disorder, and the person’s life circumstances, including the availability of support and a willingness to stick with treatment.

Delusional disorder is typically a chronic (ongoing) condition, but when properly treated, many people with this disorder can find relief from their symptoms. Some people recover completely and others experience episodes of delusional beliefs with periods of remission (lack of symptoms).

Unfortunately, many people with this disorder do not seek help. It often is difficult for people with a mental disorder to recognize that they are not well. They also might be too embarrassed or afraid to seek treatment. Without treatment, delusional disorder can be a life-long illness.

Also found this, but it’s way too complex for me to understand. I think it takes the place of what you posted, but I’m not sure.

ETA, after skimming this, it seems to me it’s the psychiatrist who makes the decision, not the judge.

In the very, very early stages of the 48 Hours data collection, I was told they searched hard for anyone who actually knew Lauren and would give a positive description of her and they couldn’t find anyone! Aww.

No real friends, very few positive accomplishments, no ambition and no drive except to destroy. With all the effort the Kanarek family puts into destroying people, imagine the good they could do if that energy was channeled into positive action. Oh wait Kirby said she worked at a soup kitchen once. Nice.

Schlessinger’s CV vs Lauren’s CV!

The steps that are required to complete the eviction process have been explained over and over and over again. I am clueless about such things and even I understood all that. The first appropriate step was taken… there was no chance to continue that process.

That gives the forms of orders the court is supposed to use throughout the process, based on the Krol ruling. It basically has a pre-written order for the judge to use based on the scenario that applies.

I suggest JK wasn’t called because anything Bilinkas wanted to ask him would have been blocked completely by Taylor. I expect Deininger will have a field day with all the discovery they were prevented from using in the criminal trial. Now there’s where the bombshells will land!

Court makes the decision based on testimony and evidence presented by the State and the defendant (acquitee). Then the Court signs one of those orders and sends it to everyone detailed in that memo.

How does someone who just got the USDF Bronze become a FEI ranked rider so quickly?

Although, in the US competing is a bit less structured. You can sort of skip around or skip levels/there aren’t any riding tests to be eligible for the next level, IIRC. I didn’t think she rode FEI though? But I also haven’t been paying attention. I’d think with the resources she has; time, money, multiple horses, access to what I assume to be good instructors, that it would be possible to advance in the sport rather quickly compared to the typical amateur working a 9 to 5 with one horse.

Going to be difficult to win in a civil case when the two star witnesses are so clearly tainted liars who couldn’t stop lying long enough to get MB a clear conviction on even the gun charges.

If I were MB’s civil attorney (who was second seat to Balinkas in the criminal trial, correct ?) I would be happy at the thought of taking on the family again. And winning again.

It seemed like Mr B made a big deal about saying he would be civilly committed. Do you know if sometimes those who get NGI are not civilly committed and it is something else?

I hope so! Another chance to watch RG smirk his way to another legal butt kick and another chance to watch LK answer “I don’t recall” and squirm when faced with almost three years of lies and plots. Testimony that includes “Finish the bastard” isn’t going to magically disappear.

I’m also frightened by the idea that she does not capitalize the “I” in that statement, if that is an accurate depiction of it.

(Note that I’m using the phrasing I learned during the trial to question whether it was an “accurate depiction.”)
