He really dug in didn’t he?
Nice nostalgic look back at Zenyatta’s Classic win. That was a wonderful race…
I spoke too soon concerning the absence of fawning celebrity twit coverage. Apparently NBC decided to wait until the Classic coverage on the main network before unleashing that torrent of vaporheadedness.
I don’t dislike them and know he’ll be well cared for; in all probability he’ll get much better mares than he would here. It just sort of gives me a bit of an empty feeling to know that by the time his connections step up to collect their Eclipse award(s), he’ll be long gone.
^^ Mara, agree on the silly celebrity stuff. MH and I just tuned in and caught that awkward celebrity bit in intro to the Classic. The conversations were halting and forced, and the whole thing had no flow. Seems like it’s been good up until now; I’m sorry we’re late getting to the broadcast.
I think NBC has stepped up to the racing population. They have improved a lot, Maybe TVG has sharpened them up. I love it that Bricks and Mortar has been kept running at 5. I think he is a strong candidate for HOY.
Mongolian Groom broke down if I saw it right. Left rear.
I saw that. Hopefully, he will be able to walk off. At least he didn’t fall.
Did a horse get pulled up?
Saw that, too.
We have been treated to two spectacular days of racing. Vino Rosso closed decisively. Was it just me, or did McKinzie not look 100% comfortable behind in the closing strides?
ETA: I didn’t notice Mongolian Groom. I hope he’s okay.
It’s officially announced Mongolian Groom pulled up and vanned off.
Mongolian Groom was pulled up and loaded onto a van, per broadcast right now.
Did not look like a minor injury, they just said.
Left hind injured per track vet, going to Eq hospital.
Oh, geeze. From the tone of the announcers’ voices, it doesn’t sound good for Mongolian Groom.
It looked like a Barbaro injury to me.
No, it doesn’t. Similar tone from AAEP track vet, too, very careful wording.
I didn’t see it. Damn and blast. The meet was going so well…
He looked PO’ed to me about being hit/urged on.
This is going to turn into a circus.
I only saw some milling at the back of the field with a golf cart and van pulling up in the background at the wire. I was thinking that they were being very careful NOT to show the rest of the field and that part of the track. And it seems there was a reason.
Jingles for Mongolian Groom and connections.
