Inspiration Point, one of C.C.'s higher priced get at the 2 Y/O sales, came 5th in a MSW as a 2Y/O and https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/race/usa/aqu/2020/12/19/5/race-5-msw-at-aqu-on-12-19-20

and second in a MSW at Aqueduct on Jan 31 https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/race/usa/aqu/2021/1/31/1/race-1-msw-at-aqu-on-1-31-21

Roadhouse Blues a C.C. filly o/o an Elusive Quality mare broke her maiden handily in this MCL race at Gulfstream.

I’m really enjoying seeing these races, which truthfully I wouldn’t look for on my own. Maybe it will turn out that CC won’t get many top horses, but nothing wrong with a bunch of nice consistent upper level claimers.

Thanks to all who are posting these.

Theres not thing wrong with appreciating good Claimers but…really…who sets out to breed them on purpose? Especially high quality mares to studs with 5 figure fees which they need to recoup the costs to aquire, train and campaign them for years.

Echoes of what I’ve been thinking every time I open this thread expecting a new development in the Chrome story, only to see it’s another maiden claiming replay.

California Chrome was an exciting racehorse and I hope for the best for his offspring - as I do for all horses.

A bit surprised he made the top 10

Chrome’s top 15 U.S. earners as of 4/9/2021.

Latest news…
CC will be headed to AU in a 2 year deal.
I’ve been unable to find much more info.
I’m not on Twitter & I guess that is where the announcement was posted.

It depends on how the statistics are broken down. If you look at the lists of second crop black type performers or black type winners he’s nowhere to be seen. His get have done well in the claimers but as someone said before, that’s not what breeders are hoping for.

I learned this via a rant by the hardcore Chromies’ Facebook page. Since he shuttled to South America a couple of times without any problems, Australia shouldn’t be that bad for him. Also, there was griping that he’s kept in a stall 24/7 and how cruel that is. Since I’ve seen pictures of him in a lovely pasture, I don’t see where they came up with that.

I would not classify this page as Chrome fans. It looks more like PETA and the rest of the bunch are just waiting for something really bad to happen for California Chrome. It’s not just ranting. It is the constant rumor generating that gets a bit heavy. They just want to do away with sport horses all together.

Horses need oversight. They don’t need little fibbers to complicate life any further. If Chrome went to Australia I would wish him the very best…and hope for the best for this stallion.

Guess it depends on which page you’re talking about.
There’s no less than a dozen of them on FB. Some more legit then others.

The rant page that is insisting that California Chrome is going to Australia. The page where the anonymous attention seeking administrator encourages the bashing of horse people. The Trump supporter who suddenly believes everything the media says about everything. The anti-horse Traitor Made fanatic who claims that intelligent foreigners pay a premium to eat drug laced horse meat.

Whether the horse goes to Australia or not it makes for good fodder to rile up those who are unfamiliar with the business.

C.C. colt and filly sold today at OBS for 6K and 120K respectively.

Lets not forget the mares contribution. Really a surprise his top money earner with the damsire Into Mischef? PotN also shows up in the same spot of another of CCs top performers. Takes two as they say.

The GB bred dam of the120k CC sale filly at OBS is a Grade II winner herself and believe that was a 2 year old in training sale, not a baby sale.

Yes, it is a 2YO sale and the physicals of his get differ completely, depending on the dam. The difference in the conformation between those two were huge. The GB mare (St.Trinians) had the best looking of his get in the sale.

St Trinians? What a great name!
